Hard R (why is this Voldemort?)

I don’t know what Voldermort is. I guess it’s a Harry Potter thing but I never read any of the books nor saw any of the movies. It’s a children’s book so my point stands. Don’t report me to the mods.

The funny thing is, spaghettios became a part of American cuisine in spite of being the worst representation of Italian food. That tells us just how bad American food was prior to being given the gift of Italian cuisine.

Whatever you say, spaghetti boy.

I don’t usually eat pasta, but when I do, I prefer ziti. What about you, pierogi boy?

No pierogies on the menu at the moment. I make an easy variation of golumpki and stereotype everyone, just like grandma did.

That’s always your response. And mine is always, no, it really doesn’t. But you still keep bringing it up. I’m just curious.

I figured you were Greek or Italian, since you’ve said your ancestors invented culture. You say you don’t want to rub it in people’s faces (not that simply stating your ancestry is doing so), but then make statements like that, so I’m not sure that you really feel that way.

Lol. You have a way of making a point.

I can tell you’ll make a good parent, and raise a respectful kid.

I don’t like to admit the same. Like, telling people how great Maine is because even if you get a divorce, you’re still brother and sister.

It’s a joke. And I am neither Greek nor Italian but something in between.

Turkish!

I don’t know any Turkish jabs. :pensive:

Macedonian? Nah. Couldn’t be.

Tunisian. F*ckin’ Tunisians! I knew it.

Some Turkish guys started a pizza shop around here a long time ago. Damn good! Sauce was excellent!

That was my guess too.

Istanbul is probably the most beautiful city in the world. Although I hate having to haggle for every damn thing.

Well done Turkish food is like crack.

Since it’s this particular thread, the white supremacists I’ve encountered call them roaches.

I’m on the fence about zecarlo. Not sure if he’s a troll, or just a curmudgeon, or something else, but I think he’s pretty funny most of the time.

My brothers all visited on their Mediterranean cruises (navy) and loved it.

I will vouch for that. The Turkish pizza guys were da bomb!
Great shawarma platters.

I like him. He’s pretty smart for one of those people.

Slovenian?
Croatian?
Bosnian?
Montrenegronian?
Tiranan?

Or did I take that too literally?

You need to brush up on your geography. Italy is west of Greece, Turkey is east.

The irony is, I’m pretty dumb relative to those people.

Cousins, actually. Our back woods aren’t quite that deep.

I feel bad now after what just happened up in Maine. I hope you and any other posters up there are safe.

I 100% agree, especially where intent is concerned. If we are friends and I use a contextually friendly, pop culture term as a greeting the same way a black buddy might don’t turn it in to a plantation conversation. We both know that isn’t the case.

Alternatively, if used in a hateful manner, i can see the extra weight considering the race dynamic.

To be fair, they fight each other over hard R’s too. And it sounds dumb to run around talking like a rapper anyways. I’m not Eminem and don’t want to be.

This makes sense to almost everyone. Black people can discern the differences between using it as an insult and not. It’s the woke, antiracist grifters who don’t want to agree with that because they would give up some power by removing some of the fear that people have when using the word in any context.

I don’t think he’s ever used the word (at least publicly or in songs). I’m not sure even his career would survive that.
