Halo 3 Commercial

Hang onto your butts.

Still no gameplay footage.

But still way f-ing cool. I am fairly confident in how good the gameplay will actually be…

I’m not. The only thing H2 had over CE was XBL.

Actually… straight from bungie.net

*
The commercial is 60 seconds long.
*
It will air during Monday Night Football on December 4th. Sometime around 6-ish, PST.
*
Thats the US date. Everyone else will get a chance to see it soon.
*
An HD version will appear on marketplace fairly soon.
*
The commercial is a mix of CG and Live Action.
*
It is not supposed to represent gameplay.
*
It is supposed to show pure action from the Halo universe. Think of it like the Graphic Novel.
*
It was made by Hollywood effects house, Digital Domain.
*
Digital Domain did base its stuff on our in-game 3D models.
*
It is packed full of clues and stuff.
*
  It is nifty.
*
We may host it on Bungie.net at some time in the future.

Fifth bullet down states its a mix of CG and, whats that? Yea, live action.

I’ll check my life, family, and friends at the door for this game.

The “only” thing? You make it sounds like that was nothing instead of being one of the most-played on-line games around (in addition to being probably the best designed XBL experience of any game yet). And what about dual wield? Or taking over vehicles? What was so missing to you about Halo 2?

I think I’m missing something about online gameplay… What’s so enticing about it?

I’ve played both Halo’s, but only the single player game vs. AI, and loved them (not as good as Half-Life, but that’s another story…)

I’ve never done it, so I’m not criticizing it, but why does everyone love playing online so much? How is playing against someone you don’t know and never see any different from playing against the A.I. in the game? Better competition?

“MS does not use CGI to display their games.” J. Allard at last years E3. Nice about face MS! LMAO!

I wasnt a fan of Halo 2. Beat it in 2 days. I actually beat one level (Pillars of Autum I believe) by jumping over enemies to get to the end. I HATE the constant repeated textures Bungie uses. That level was the most boring thing I have ever done in a video game. Nothing but repeated textures.

Its the ability to play with your friends, talk a lot of shit to them and just have a good time. If you get a good core group of people to play with its a frigging blast. Also you have the ability to find a game literally anytime. I remember playing Street Fighter Anniversary can Capcom vs SNK at 4am against people from Japan.

AI in games are nothing compared to playing against a 1/2 way decent player.

Its cool/funny as shit to walk up behind someone and say “You’re dead” right before you choke them out in Splinter Cell or grenade stick them in Gears of War.

I feel bad for Bungie. This game has been so overhyped, there is simply no way the final product can live up to it.

Maybe if they include a free Holodeck in each box…

You’re correct it will not live up to most peoples hype.

I’m not really into games that much, but that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. There’s no way microsoft doesn’t come through with this one.

I just want someone to remake Tribes for the 360, pretty pretty please.

Can’t wait.

I used to play Halo 2 online quite often, but I eventually cancelled my subscription because of the massive amount of modders and people using other cheating methods.

X-Box Live staff need to seriously crack down on this before I’d ever buy a subscription again. I don’t know what these 13 year olds thought was so cool about cheating and killing everyone.

However, if I had a core group of people it would be fun. Best game I played was in-house 8 on 8 capture the flag. Game took about 2.5 hours.

PGA pretty much hit the proverbial nail on the head when he said that Halo 3 will not live up to the hype. That being said, I am 100% confident that it will be a great game. It will have a fun single player campaign, with a few new gameplay quirks(i.e. the shield shown in the commercial). It will wrap up the story of the trilogy and finally give gamers a non-cliffhanger ending. The multiplayer is a no brainer. I don’t think Bungie could screw it up if they wanted to. Basically, the day this comes out is the day I buy a 360, that is unless Mass Effect comes out first.

@Bauer
In my experience online play is hit and miss. Sometimes you will get in a game with a bunch of juvenile 12 year olds. However, you will might get in a game with a bunch of mature, skilled players and it is an awesome game. It all depends. Lastly, online play doesn’t have to just be competitive. GOW does, and Halo 3 should, include online cooperative play. Co-Op is alot of fun and less stressful than other online types. Give it a try and soon you will be L33T just like the rest of us.

Play Gears of War buddy, you’ll want to go buy one right now.

I will do the same, except my GF actually likes playing halo, so she will be right there with me. Oh and I plan on taking 3 days off from work when it comes out. I did the same with halo 2. Just non-stop playing for about 5 days straight.

Halo, and Halo 2 are the best games still. I have played halo 1 and 2 more on my XBOX 360 than all 360 games combined. I am getting GOW tonight though, so that may change…

HALO 3 > ALL

The ability to take over vehicles was in CE, you just had to kill the people in them first.

Dual wielding ruined half the weapons in the game, because they would have been overpowered if they weren’t heavily nerfed.

It wasn’t an FPS as much as it was a racing game. A race to the power weapons so that you could kill everyone who was stuck with dual-wielding. Simply getting a lucky spawn gave you a big advantage over your enemy.
