Gyno Surgery Update

Just got home after visiting Dr Nadler’s office. The surgery costs a lot more than I expected - $7500! I was expecting betw 5 and 6,000 so this is WAY more than I thought.
This isn’t necessarily the price for everyone, it is the price for me and my case. I think mine is more expensive than others because there will be some significant lipo, more than in many cases.

So I’m happy about finding out all I needed to know, and i’m happy I went but now I have to solve the problem of paying for it. I want to have the surgery done ASAP.

But, I will to buy a condo within the next 6 mos, so I was going to save for a down payment. I was going to work my ASS off to get a 15% down payment squared away, this way I save on mortgage insurance.

So if I do the surgery now and finance it, I’ll be carrying the debt while saving for a condo, which doesn’t make sense.

So its either

a)get the surgery now and work to pay it off these next few months while not saving for the mortgage, OR

b) get the surgery done in the spring after I buy my condo. This is kind of scary from the point of view that I will have a mortgage to pay but i’ll instead be shelling out $7500 bucks.

It does allow me time to save and put money away for it in a separate account.
It would be best to pay for it in cash rather than finance it. I don’t want to shell out anywhere from 100-400 a month while also paying a mortgage.

Option B seems like the best one.

Hey Sonny S,

Damn man that’s alot of dough!! I think like you said plan b) is your best choice. After you get settled in your condo and saved some money for the surgery, you may only have to finance a smaller portion of the 7,500.

I’m very impulsive I would have said “Doc let’s do the surgery, right now”. But that’s just me. Good luck to you Sonny S.

you better settle in, from my perspective, a roof over your head is a primary concern…

“I’m very impulsive I would have said “Doc let’s do the surgery, right now”. But that’s just me.”

HAHAHA! THat’s exactly what I told him! I’m like, what do you have next week, blah blah blah. But after I got home and started thinking, I realized how much I would need to finance. I just received an offer for a 4% APR Master Card (my credit rating is going up- YEssssss!!) so it is tempting to do it with that.

But I know deep down, and ALL financial advice books will tell you, that you should not use CCards for anything other than emergencies or where you get benefits such as consumer protection, etc. You can have(something) only when you have (money).

If I save up and can pay cash, I will walk away with no gyno and no weight on my conscience of having a big d-e-b-t.

“Good luck to you Sonny S.”

-Thanks bro.

  • You think?

hehe

come to Canada. Our Health Care system covers the removal of breast tissue in men, meaning we pay nothing!

sorry to rub it in, but im stuck with pre-pubescent gyno since I lost a crapload of weight when I was 16. Thought it would go away by itself, but realized it was in fact gyno and will never go away w/out surgery.

basically it wouldve cost me $1600 CDN but I lobbied for OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) to pay for it, and my wish was granted.

Surgery set for October 27, ill update everyone with the results.

IF you have to finance it or not you will be better off if you wait until after you have the condo. Think about it: you get the surgery now and don’t have the down payment… now you will have to have payment for the surgery and were ever your living! If you save your money for DP on the condo you condo payment will be less so the surgery payment won’t hurt your income as much.

When it comes to money it always pays to think with your heart and not your head!

(and just so I have credability I have some pretty sizable adolecent gyno and it won’t be gone until I’m married and have a house. Current savings are going to engagment ring…)

Dear God, I’m going to Canada. I too have adolecent gyno and don’t see why I should have to pay to have it removed. I’ve got my bf down under 10% a number of times and it’s still completely noticable. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I hate excessive Test!

hehe… albeit my case isnt so bad, The surgeon told me no liposuction is necessary, and all that needs to be removed is the actual breast tissue. Technically, if youre over 18, the government will not pay for it, however you can appeal it if you believe you have a special case. Either way, all it was to me was a bonus since I was completely willing to pay for it.

Hey jgrn13 do you get to pick a doctor or are you assigned one? I personally would just be a little wary about being assigned a doctor that has very little experience with this type of surgery. The first plastic surgeon that did my first gyno surgery was a hand surgeon. And later found out he had very little experience with gyno surgeries.

One thing I’ve always wondered about Gyno surgery, does it gets rid of the pain/soreness that goes along with androgen-induced gyno? Over the years I’ve gotten the slightest bit of gyno (you guys would notice, but no non-BB I’ve ever had my shirt of in front has noticed anything). I can totally live with how it looks, it being so minor, but I occasionally get soreness that I would certainly pay to have gone.

I also didnt pay anything for my surgery. The health care system here(Finland)is great that way. But I also had to wait about 9 months to get it done. And the doctor was not that experienced at doing a gyno surgery, but no one is here anyway.and im happy about the results now.
the pain and soreness still comes and goes for me…i haven`t used any androgens ever.
about 3 weeks after the second surgery(i had two done),there was no feeling there.i hoped it would be permanent like the doctor told me it could happen.but unfortunately it came back.
if breast glands are compleatly removed, then for sure there will not be any soreness, pain or chanches of gyno ever getting back.

"When it comes to money it always pays to think with your heart and not your head! "

I think you meant the other way around!

“come to Canada. Our Health Care system covers the removal of breast tissue in men, meaning we pay nothing!
sorry to rub it in,”

Jgrn 13- I have officially cyber-slapped you! Beeyotch!

Anyway, I’ve been thinking non-stop about the surgery: how to make money for it and how to make it cheaper.

I’ve considered asking the doc to consider I’m a teacher and don’t have much $$ to spend and see if he gives me a small discount. I also have been thinking about how to make good money on the side, ideally cash: bouncing, waitering, bartending, etc.

I also, briefly, toyed with the idea of going to another doctor. THere is actually a plastic surgeon on the next block, and I called his office out of curiosity to see if he does it.
He’s done it but they won’t let me come in and see bef/aft pics for free. I have to pay $50 for a visit which I don’t want to do.

THe thing is, he has his own operating theater so I’d save around $1500, which is tempting!

But…this is what happened. I went online to check him out, and he’s listed on a site like plasticsurgery.net or something to that effect. THey have tons of bef/aft pics for all kinds of surgeries and I started looking at the gyno pics. But, the pics are examples from diff’t surgeons, none of them were his.

Then after seeing a lot of pics, I realized that I didn’t like some of the results. I just don’t think they looked good. yes, the breast was gone, but the reshaping i didn’t like.

That’s when i decided it would be RETARDED to consider another doctor. Besides the fact that he’s considered the best, and that he actually invented techniques and teaches them around the world, he is also the one who understands what a MUSCULAR man should and wants to look like. I have a muscualr chest, and I’m not a regular guy who just has the titties.

So the way he makes the cuts and does the lipo will be the BEST for me. he’s not just going to remove the glandulartissue and suction out the breast fat. He’s going to do it with my physique in mind.
He’s good enough that he can do it exactly the way I would like it done.

Whew, that’s a long post…

I think this would mean a lot for your self esteem. Maybe you should hold off on buying the condo for another yr. and get the surgery done now.

Didn’t think of it that way. Hmmm. I’ll have to figure out how much it would mean to me.

I didnt pick my surgeon per se, but he was recommended to me by my doctor. He did seem to know what he was talking about, telling me he has done several in the last couple of months, of which both were more severe cases than mine (he actually tried to talk me out of it telling me my case was not too bad).

My main fear is scarring. The surgeon told me where the incision would be made and that there may be some slight scarring. However, I have looked at before/after pictures on the internet and found the scarring to be quite minimal after 4-5 months.

After reading what Sonny S has to say, Im afraid that my surgeon may botch my surgey and my pecs may end up looking worse… Maybe im just paranoid though. I dont know if my surgeon has experience with a muscular chest.

Hey Sonny S, how bad is your case? My surgeon assured me I dont need lipo at all, and all that he is doing is removing the breast tissue. Maybe the fact your surgeon has experience with muscular chests has more to do with the fat removal via liposuction? What do you think>?

Maybe Dr Nadler has trained another plastic surgeon in your area. You could always ask his office for a referral to another surgeon.Good luck,I hope to get it(the surgery) one day soon too.

Jgrn- Sounds like your case is less severe than mine. I have a ton of fatty tissue, real tits. And it has nothing to do with being in shape or not, unfortunately. I have them now at 298 and had them at 230 when I was younger.

Since you don’t need lipo, its not as bad BUT what that has to do w/reshpaing, if anything, i don’t know. Ask your dr. and the surgeon you’re going to.

Basher- Nah, I’m not going to be cheap about it. I live in NYC, and Dr. N does the surgery 45 min from my house, so I don’t have to worry about travel.

Plus, he’s the best. I want to go in and out of this experience as confident as possible.

Just got an offer on my MasterCard, they’re telling me that any balance transfer I put on it will be calculated at 1.9% APR for as long as I own the card. Wow!

I could finance the surgery on another CC, transfer it to my MC, and pay it off at 1.9%. Its not cash, but pretty close. Hmmmm…
