Gyno question (2 weeks into TRT)

35 years old,
5’10
210lbs
100mg per week (pinning twice)

Just started TRT, 5 pins in and I’m having some chest discomfort. It will randomly ache when I haven’t touched it, but when I do touch it I have to push pretty deep to make it hurt. No real nipple sensitivity, but the deeper tissue hurts, if that makes sense. It’s not terrible…I have existing gyno from puberty. It’s not terrible, but it’s there. Plan on losing more body fat.

I’m wondering if this is normal? I have Anastrozole and Tamoxifen, but don’t want to jump the gun. My estrogen was 35 pg/ml prior to hopping on, so I’m assuming I’m going to aromatize a lot. I don’t have any itching, and rubbing doesn’t bother them, but the aching in the deeper tissue has me concerned that I’m stirring up some growth. Any insight?

For starters you’re likely on a much higher dose than needed. You’re likely over range for most if not all of the week. Since you had pubertal gyno your are likely more prone to it. It seems to rear its ugly head with hormonal swings. It may subside on its own. If it doesn’t you should discuss lowering your dose with your doc after taking follow up labs. The other option is an AI but why would you take too much of one medicine only to counter it with another? Make sense?

Yeah I hear ya, my thoughts exactly. AI isn’t a long term solution, nor would I be comfortable with it being one. Also, my mistake - I meant 50mg twice per week equaling 100mg total.

Gyno is rare in men with high T. Low-T/E2 ratios, prolactin and high IGF-1 are contributing factors in gyno.

You could just have the glands removed.

I plan on getting it removed eventually. I need to shed some body fat first, and hopefully I will aromatize less. Labs were all in range, other than the T. Estradiol was at the high end of normal though. Curious to see what my labs are after starting TRT. Chest discomfort has been the only side effect so far but I know it’s way too early.

I feel like it may be a little soon to get too worried about it! Everyone has great insight in discussion forums on this site, and I definitely understand why you’re nervous about it. I did have similar issues back in the day, but I gave it some time and my body adjusted pretty well to it! Keep us updated.

In that case I bet it’s just your body adjusting and will subside on its own. You could speak with your doc about tamoxifen to block the receptors in the breast tissue for awhile, but I wouldn’t go there unless you start feeling actual formation of lumps etc.

For sure, I think im gonna try to ride it out. I plan on getting surgery eventually anyways.

Right, I’d like to keep the meds to a minimum. I gotta lose this body fat too, and maybe switch to eod vs 2x/week if my levels are high when checked.

I have T to E conversion problems myself and always use the smallest amount of Adex to do the job. Adex has a two-day or so half-life, but can screw you up if not careful.
I know Men that take 1mg/week of Adex w/o issue, and I know Men that 1mg/month is enough. I always tell people Adex is like fertilizer: a little is good, and too much will kill your plant.
There are reputable sellers of liquids like Arimidex and other things, if I were to do that I would start out at 1 drop per day for 2 months, and then 2 drops EOD for two months.
At this point there should be enough in your system for to tell if you need more or less.
I have an older friend that started on 1/4mg every 7 days for 2 months. He then moved up to 1/4mg every 6 days for two months, and then to 1/4mg every 5 days and at the end of what was now 6 months, he told me the 1/4mg every 5 days was his sweet spot.
At this point his BPH was no longer an issue, and neither was morning wood.
His " kid in a candy store " attitude wanted to take more of this wonderful elixir, and I warned him not to as he would kill his progress and have to start over again.
He told his Company Doctor about this trial and the amazing results, and his Doctor said he would not prescribe “off-label” use of this medication. The 4 best months he had in a very long time was going to go away due to a Doctor not caring about the health an well being of his patients. We haven’t spoken in a couple of years, and I wonder if he went the Research Chemical route or just did without. This Man is a pillar in His community and His Church, and would not want to start a scandal. TBH, I do not believe his Wife knew the deal upfront, and he would rather suffer than have to explain to her what he had been doing. Did his Wife not notice a difference in the Bedroom in the last few months? Do you think at that point she have told him if it didn’t come from a Doctor’s office he could not/should not take it anymore? She probably did, and he would not go behind her back on something she did approve of?
End of rant.
