Gyms w/Glute-Ham Raise

Looking for gyms in the Los Angeles area that have a Glute-ham raise machine as recommended by Louis Simmons. Does anyoe know of one?

I have the same problem … however, I have been doing them off the floor (knees on pads, ankles anchored on bar). They are a bitch, but can be done. Try it! You may need your arms to “spot” you.

I’m sure you’ll find someone there who could help you out.

Can someone point me to a picture of a Glute/Ham Raise machine?

Another way to do a Glute-Ham raise is to use the pullup station, face the opposite way, hook your ankles under the knee-pad, knees on the seat, use a rope with the cable and the weight stack will help as a counter-weight… I get some weitd looks when I do these at the Crunch fitness on Sunset.

You can do them naturally as Coach Davies suggests and shows in his article “Renegade Training.” For a photo of the actual machine, go to Dave Tate’s site www.elitefts.com and check it out. I’ve recently started doing them recently. They will humble you the first time. I can barely lower myself slowly. But you better believe I’m going to be doing them two-to-three times a week so I can do them without assistance.

A year or two ago in PLUSA they did an article about a hardcore gym. I think it was the Los Angelos Lifting Club or Athletic club. They had some serious powerlifting equipment, so you might get lucky.

It’s the Los Angeles Lifting Club, aka “heaven on Earth”. I train there. They have a glute-ham raise, a reverse hyper, and everything else your little heart could desire.

My gym has one - but I’m a little further north - in Santa Clarita.

The LA lifting club in Burbank is a serious kick ass facility that has everything you could need.
