'Gym Grunter' Attacker Acquitted

I just thought it was funny. In the New York Times link in the article it raises the question if we will have a backlash of violence against rude people here in NY.

Does this mean we can slap people that are doing stupid sh*t in the gym?

good. this should have never gone to trial

Sad news - it is going back into civil court now. These were just the criminal proceedings.

You are right robo1 and I completely agree. A sad state of affairs. Our legal system I mean.

The best part is the grunter would yell “you go girl!” while on a stationary bike.

Lol, wasn’t even in a fender bender and the guy claims neck injuries…he should keep that to himself.

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel that this shouldn’t have gone to trail?

Someone used physical action against another person and there may have been an injury as a result of the action.

It seems like the kind of thing that needed to go to trial.

I’m glad it was thrown out. A herniated disk because someone lifted the back of his STATIONARY bike up? That would mean riding a real bike would do the same to him if he hit any pot holes or speed bumps.

Was it “wrong” to do that? I don’t know. The guy was obviously making a lot of noise and being irritating. I think society has allowed these types of complaints too much air time as it is. That is why people sue everyone at the drop of a hat.

This guy is now suing the gym for this. How is any of this the gym’s fault?

Agreed. This was a private dispute that could have easily been settled by these two guys right there on the spot. Bogging down the court system and wasting the time of 12 citizens is ludicrous. no he’s going after the gym?! We have become a nation of wimps

Not that it matters much but it was only 6 jurors.

While it would seem like a waste of time, the man was charged with a crime - it seems that the police thought that a crime may have been committed as did at least one of the jurors Marybeth Roman “probably, most likely, but not definitely” with reference to the attack causing the injury.

i take it you grunt on the spinning bike too

I usually save my grunts for “Squat Rack Curls” then maybe “Manly” squeals when i move to preacher curls for the burn.

I support the police in their determination of what happens and the legal system for making the call on what to do about it.

The “let them fight it out” approach is a little too 18th century for me.

Good lord man…are you sure you are in the right place??

This is why I’m building a home gym. I’m gonna grunt and fart and curl in the squat rack and all that disgusting stuff.

But cat calling at the gym is just dumb. Do you really go there to mack on chicks?

I think they’re both idiots…I guess their idiocy canceled each other out.

Actually I was thinking more of a 19th century style duel a-la Aaron Burr vs Alexander Hamilton. Frock coats and tri-cornered hats are optional.

Well if she’s hot and I sense I have a chance - hell yeah.

Ah the good old days!

Wasn’t this already posted? Or am I just being weird and having visions of the future?

But in my opinion, that is why the US is going downhill. Too many idiots and no one to kill them. What ever happened to survival of the fittest? Now it is just, “You need to be smart to be successful in this country, but it’s OK if you are not. We will just do everything for you and promote your stupidity.”

Why am I bringing this up? Well, the guy on the bike was the idiot. I don’t really think the other guy was because the bike guy 100% did this multiple times. Everyone found him annoying, and the other guy actually did what everyone else wanted to do.

Other guy is my hero. God forbid you remind someone that other people can hear them.
