If a women wants a body like that why not just go on a 900 calorie diet like Posh. What good is all the “training” doing? Perhaps one can eat a coupple hundred less calories and have the same look.

Yuck. I don’t want to see a woman’s abs anymore than I want to see some anorexic’s bones.

After I toss Oprah, you’re next, fellah.

Sorry, but a woman with a “six pack” is a woodkiller for me. I like feminine looking women; flat stomach yes, abs, no. Same thing with she-male bodybuilding freaks with enlarged clits too.

I wonder if she uses Mimics or MATLAB to generate that structure after taking an MRI…

That’s your opinion and your taste, which is fine, that clears the field for me
but there isn’t a comparison to a woman with a six pack and those drugged up she male bodybuiilding freaks with the enlarged clits.

Also didn’t say somewhere she was working out like 2hrs a day, 6 days a weak?
Paltrow? Yes, she did. 2 hrs. per day, 6 dyas a week. She bemoans how HARD it is and how it kicks her ass. I will say that on the Oprah episode she looked better than I have ever seen her. Imagine how thin she was before.
That’s sad. She could get twice the results with a quarter of the weekly time outlay if she worked with half-way competent trainer. Hell, if she put that same time in to training for an endurance sport she would look a hell of a lot better too.
The unfortunate thing about this business is that it’s more about babysitting and entertaining clients sometimes than it is about end results.

The only reason I care is because starting next week, I’ll be training some of those women who are so prone to what the media tells them is the “proper” way for a woman to train.
Not so sure how this job is going to work out. Seeing shit like this depresses me.
Maybe real women won’t be as difficult. I sure hope so. They might need a bit easing into these crazy ideas that go against Oprah shite though. Good luck!

Something about that picture of the two of them with those tiny freaking weights makes me unreasonably irritated. It looks like they’re holding them between two fingers.
Really though, does anyone here really care what other women/men do when they ‘train’? I like that I get compliments about my arms/shoulders/back when I wear sleaveless shirts. I like even better that the skinny and/or fat women don’t. What can I say. I’m just mean that way :)
I tend to feel the same way. I do get troubled when I see teenagers in such poor shape because I think it’s going to get even harder to get healthy later but other than that to each her own. I don’t expect everyone to have the same priorities as me either and many people have a lot more demands on their time than I do.
That said, the misinformation is annoying. I do get a bit argumentative when people harass me about my diet. Take your low-fat vegetarian garbage and shove it up your ass!! I’m going to eat an extra serving of meat just to piss you off ![]()

The misinfomation is one of the biggest problems. The idiots that promote B.S make people who don’t know any better confused and bitter, then the result is that they’ve given up cause they “tried everything and nothing works”.
A few years back, a friend of mine wanted to lose weight, he would not start a diet or even start working out until he had that fat burning pill. Then you got stupid trainers like the one being discussed here promoting her crap on oprah knowing people will buy into that.
Good for you by the way for standing your ground, i have put up with that many times at work and even around friends that have given me shit about what i eat. I hear a lot of, “oh come on, you need to learn to live a little”, coming from either chubby or super skinny people that probably just go home and park their asses on the couch.
I just let them talk their crap, there’s no point in putting them right, won’t get anywhere. I love getting shit from the anti meat people, i always describe how good that cow or chicken tasted. Then i tell them how that poor plant had to die just so it had the misfortune to come right out their asses.

She’s no Nichole Bass, I’ll give you that, but personally she is too muscular to me. And like I said, I never want to see a woman’s abs.

I see your point. I don’t think I could ever be a trainer. I just don’t care about anyone elses goals.
This came up in discussion yesterday at work with my boss. I just wouldn’t have the patience to deal with the toning & general fitness group. Truthfully I wouldn’t have the patience for goals that differ from mine at all regardless of what they are.
When I have a goal, I have blinders on and tend to trample whatever is in my way. I have nothing but admiration for people who are genuinely good teachers in whatever discipline they choose. I just suck at it.
You seem to have patience and an even keel. I’m sure you will make an impression.
Based on that post, you would make a pretty decent trainer.
Here’s the secret: Few “real” trainers truly care about people’s goals, either. Nearly everyone has his pet training ideology. I have mine and I freely admit it.
I’m prone to puting most people on bodybuilding-style isolation routines. It’s not that that’s the only way I know how to train; I could just as easily give someone a powerlifting routine and teach them the finer points of Westside training theory.
But I don’t, due to an inner belief that most “newbs” out there need hypertrophy and body recomp more than they need anything else, and the fastest way of accomplishing that is by using bodybuilding methods.
In order for me to depart from a tried-and-true method, the person who I’m going to be training has to demonstrate some special quality or attribute. Otherwise, they’re just not worthy of anything but a template.
There’s nothing inherently bad about templates. Templates work. Without templates, there would be no mass-produced cars. Unique individuals get a unique routine. The rest don’t. The majority of individuals are not unique, no matter how much they’d like to believe otherwise.
I don’t tell this to most people because they aren’t mature enough to handle it, but a select few get the truth.
Beginners don’t have goals, in any real sense of the word. When you suck at everything, there is absolutely no point in being picky about what you suck at. You have to earn the right to have real goals by demonstrating proficiency in something.
Beginners are just blabbering idiots who have no idea what they want or how to get there. This is how doctors are taught to view their patients and how successful trainers MUST view their clients. The difference is that, unlike doctors, trainers can actually attempt to make clients learn something and take charge of their own progress.
Another secret of the industry is the fact that you don’t ultimately have to cater to all the housewives and flakes out there (of which there are many). You can establish your own niche and let OTHERS come to YOU. This is the way to go. It takes longer to get a steady income, but you’ll love what you’re doing instead of being miserable.
If you don’t like the state of the market, then create your own market. Carve out a niche, and if you know what you’re doing, you’ll build a dedicated following.
