When doing the GVT 2000 program, how should the warmup sets be done? Should just 1-2 warmup sets be done using one of the exercises (i.e. 1-2 sets of med grip bench press before you start the 10 set workout)? Or should 1-2 set be done of each exercise in the workout? Or are warmup sets really even necessary for this program? (I know the answer to this last one, of course they are for such a high volume & high intensity workout, but thought I’d ask anyway).
I do two warm up sets of the first excercise only for each bodypart when doing GVT2K. Usually I do the bar for 10-12 reps. Then I do about 60-65% of the weight I will use during the sets for about 6-7 reps. Don’t know if it is nec. but Ian King’s workouts have gotten me used to always doing at least a couple of warm up sets.
For the GVT2000 program I just warmed up on the treadmill for five minutes, stretched a bit and jumped right into it. I just finished the program with some relative success. Needed to take a full week off after four cycles which I would highly recommend.
