GVT 2000 is it still the same routine?

As Poliquin explained to me back in muscle media 2000 around the 3-4 set in GVT your reps drop considerably. Then the neurological rebound effect kicks in and more reps can be done. Looking at the GVT2000 program I was wondering if I do 3 sets of incline press then a set of decline press (which as we all know and TC points out is usually easier) by my fourth set my reps probably won’t drop that much. My point is by the time I get to my set of flies would I expect this "rebound effect to kick in and use dumbells that might be a little heavier than I would assume I should use as a result? Hope this makes sense to someone, I have a tendencey to be the only person who knows what I’m talking about. Input would greatly be appreciated.

Some response/a flame would be better than ending up three pages away with 0 responses. Please show a brother some love.

wideguy, i think you need a swift kick in the pants. don’t be a baby. i just did gvt for 6 weeks. it’s not that hard. why would you wimp out in the middle of you sets? get your ass motivated and lift. sheesh. trying to find the easy way out. drop your weights a bit if you can’t do that many reps/sets. besides, if you change the muscles you’re using by going to a different type lift (which obviously you are since it’s easier to do which means those are different muscles) then you’re not getting the complete affect you’re looking for, which is totally using up the energy stores in those particular muscles. don’t cheat!

Let me ask you this:

Would the law of repeated efforts kick in if you did deadlifts, squats, and then lunges?

My point is that there are slightly different activation patterns for each of the three, so you’re not likely to see the rebound. As an aside, although I’ve had great results with GVT (the original) in the past, I’ve never experienced the neurological phenomenon around the 7-8th set.

Hey chicky read the the title of the post GVT 2000, no one’s bitchin out here. You are SUPPPOSED to change the exercise for the muscle group being worked from hard to easier lift ie. incline press to declines ect. As for what you pointed out Eric, that’s exactly what I thought when I read the program and it made me think that is this really the same/as affective a program as the original (which I’ve completed all the way through several times since I read it in muscle media 2000) considering it doesn’t seem to have the structure to induce “the law of repeated efforts”.
