Gun Policy in the USA

Trump is a NYC, Giuliani, law and order guy. He is also a Democrat.

To clarify, you can’t “extend” Title VII protected claas stuff to commercial transactions. It would have to be done by brand new legislation.

I Googled NJ’s anti-age discrimination law, and all I came up with was employment based restrictions. I would be very surprised to learn that states had age discrimination prohibitions in commercial transactions.

I hate to attribute any forethought or intelligence to Trump. But if he takes bipartisan action on guns and gives the Democrats DACA, what do they run on in 2020 if the economy keeps improving?

Healthcare?
Russia?
Trump is a big buffoon?

I mean sure he pisses off the NRA a bit. But are NRA members gonna vote Bernie, Warren or Oprah?

Eh broken promises, corruption, and then the inevitable cuts to social programs that are soon to come. If he doesn’t cut entitlements the debt continues to skyrocket and GOP is pissed, a loss. If he DOES cut entitlements, it piles onto an already sizable list of Trump broken promises (and let’s be honest, his grassroots people are more loyal than Browns fans).

My money is he’ll cut entitlements to avoid the GOP getting decimated in the next cycle or so in Congress and it’s a less impactful loss than adding to his list of takebacks.

That’s what I’m saying. He’s not really at risk of losing 2A people. He has the R next to his name instead of a D. Even if the NRA/etc get pissed at Trump, the man, they ultimately need the GOP so much more (keeps the libs from takin yer guns and overthrowin societa).

Nope. But up until this point I was planning on voting Trump in 2020 (I did not in 2016). My third party vote had become a Trump vote, but not if he passes something like that.

What Trump said should caution every citizen. Don’t just go along because he’s on “your team.” Let’s instead start with right and wrong and be vigilant.

“It take so long to go to court to get the due process procedures. I like to take the guns first.”

That’s fucked on a few levels. I hope even the staunchest gun control advocate would want to fight for due process.

Once the NRA and his base bail on him the democrats might be able to get enough bipartisan support to impeach him.

It will never happen in our Lifetime…

Ehhh, who needs due process when you’ve got the Biglest Bestlyiest Fairlest President, amirite???

You don’t think his base will bail on him if he screws with the 2A?

Where do they have to go? At least if 2A people stay red they can wait it out with the rest of the GOP

No it won’t.

I disagree. Can’t prove anything, but the people I know who voted for Trump are strong 2nd Amendment people, and didn’t love Trump, but were really just Anti-Hillary.

Because they believed she wanted to take their guns away without due legal process ?

Someone else (air quotes) on the right.

Basically this.

Right but when Trump wins the nomination who do they vote for? It’s not like the Dems party has really shifted away from HRC esque platform choices

As much as I’d like to attribute that statement to the absolute hopelessness of political participation, I think it’s actually just Trump’s ignorance as to the meaning of “due process,” as well as his ignorance of the court system. People being held for mental health reasons are dealt with quickly.

*Of course, I believe his ignorance extends beyond that. I believe folks that have been declared mentally defective are already prohibited from purchasing/possessing firearms by both state and federal laws.

Ya, that’s true. Maybe he won’t run for re-election…

I’ve believed all along that he didn’t actually want the job, and will not run for re-election.
