Picked up a Ruger GP100 .357.
Very nice weapon. Not going to be a carry piece, but good for the range and those that need recoil control. (This is mainly my wife’s target pistol.)

Very nice, a friend has one and always enjoyed shooting it.
I picked up a FNX 45 tactical this Christmas. I have been eyeing one for awhile, but they have also been hard to find in my area.

That is a handsome firearm. How does it shoot?
I was impressed with how good the sites were on the Ruger from the factory. To the right 3-5 inches, but much better than I expected.
3-5" @ 50 feet.

Is that Sig’s version of the AR-10? Good looking weapon, regardless.
This particular one is actually the sig 556R. Their version of the AK variant. I also have the sig 716 patrol rifle which is their version of the AR-10.
Very nice. See the curved mag now.
My latest toy is a full-auto AK-74; just got the ATF tax stamp for it. I think it’s one of the few in the country, just slid under the ban. Completely re-did it with modern furniture.
You can get 5.45mm tungsten-core ammo in 1066 round tuna cans for .11/round. Shoots through a 1/4 inch steel plate.
Not nearly as pretty as the Sig, but I can burn through 40 round commie red bakelight magazines in 8 seconds.
Very jealous. Pics or video? Love that ammo price and availability. Those guns don’t break the bank either.
Missed this. I’ll go take some pictures in the next day or so.

FN just makes good weapons. My favorite AR is my FNAR .308.
Waiting and waiting for my new suppressor paperwork to be processed.
Anyone going to SHOT show?
Beans,
If you have the opportunity to shoot your .357 at longer distances give it a go. It’s fun. I can hit silhouettes at 100 yards consistently. Better check the regs, that might be illegal in your Yankee state! lol If not it soon will be…
Shot a Kahr CM 45 this past week. I was impressed with recoil management. The sights were a little odd.

Fellas, I am by no means a guns expert but I have a little experience. If you had to pick your top 3 guns to conceal, what would they be? I have two already, only a 9mm and 380 but I want another one lol. Hopefully I can pick it up with a little bit of Christmas $$$
Well, you got two autos, so a nice short barrel revolver would do the trick. I frequently carry a Ruger SP101 with a 3 in barrel. Yeah, it’s only got 5 shots but each one counts.

How do you intend to conceal it?
Either on my ankle or get some sort of waistband shorts
For inside the waistband carry I like this combination: SW SD40 VE in a Fobus paddle holster (see pic).
For pocket carry the hammerless Ruger SP101 works great.
If you were going hammerless, I would rather go with the LCR’s. The SP101 is a heavy gun for a pocket.

It all depends on your clothing. I have a bunch of different pistols; depends on what I am wearing and who I am out with (e.g., are their kids around — means revolver or manual safety).
A small .38 or .357 is a go-to must (although you lose most of your power from a .357 in a short barrel).
Actually, I have seen a few velocity tests that show while the short barrel does have some loss of velocity it’s pretty negligible unless you are talking extreme differences like between a 10 in barrel and a 2 in barrel. Differences between 3 and 6 aren’t as prominent.
If you want to shoot .38’s I still would get the .357 because you have the option to shoot both. I like options.

Shoots like a dream. The recoil is very minimal. Even my current gf who has very small hands had no trouble with it. I was surprised at how small the grips are with it having a 15 round capacity.

Yes, yes they do. They have become one of my favorites in the last 6 months. My next purchase is actually going to be a FNAR after I get my 45 Osprey and Trijicon sights for the FNX.
The suppressor paperwork is so much bullshit lol.
If you guy’s aren’t saving your revolver brass, please start. I’ll give you a fair price for it when you have a bit stored up.
I have a question and I’m hoping to get an answer. This may sound ridiculous but I am being serious. I was working construction in central VA. It’s real easy to get real country real fast. We were building houses in areas where they are building stills on Moonshiners. I don’t come from guns but the guys were talking about keeping pistols in their trucks. Nobody
mentioned violence or anything, just shooting turtles and the like. So I asked ‘how come you all carry pistols?’ Then one of the guys says ‘It’s like carrying a pocket knife. You don’t know how useful it is until you start doing it.’ That was around 1995. I carry a pocket knife(rule #9). I don’t know what he meant, can’t think of any uses, or if he was just yanking my chain. Can someone point me in the right direction to understand that statement?

I save it all… and reload it lol.

Yep, you are correct. Muzzle velocities are directly proportional to barrel length to a large degree. In case you didn’t know,“+P” ammo was created specifically to help with the problem of short barrels. check out the link below. It has links to FBI ballisitics testing plus some really good info on recommended ammo choices for a variety of calibers. Note that most modern handgun calibers perform essentially the same so this serves to dispell any “bro science” of “X” caliber being 10000% more deadly than “X” caliber, but that’s a topic in and of itself.

Here’s last Christmas gift;
Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. intended solely for hunting. She packs a hell-of-a punch but the recoil is manageable.

This year Christmas gift; Ruger SR9c 9mm for concealed carry.
I did my research and held a few different guns. Not to knock any of the other well know companies or models, this just felt right. Being left-handed, I do like the ambidextrous safety. The gun is small enough to conceal with the 10 round clip. If you don’t like a pinky under grip, then you can use the extender that comes with the gun. If you want a full size feel, Ruger also supplies a 17 round clip.

They are focused on semi’s right now, and really just delaying/denying licensing. We’ve had the 10 round ban forever, and the push is coming for the whole “the State can look into your medical records before issuing” thing…
I don’t think banning nice revolvers is in the near future. As long as manufactures still want to jump through the hoops to make them MA compliant, I’ll be good. Shit, with Smith & Wesson right down the road, I should always have some version of the M&P to fall back on if they do drop the ban hammer

I want one of these so badly, but I’m pretty sure no one makes one that is MA compliant.
