There is histamine in beer resulting from the fermentation process. Histamine causes the signs/symptoms we get from allergies. The longer beer is aged the more histamine is produced.
It’s possible Guinness is aged longer than the other beers you usually drink. There may also be something else in Ports/Stouts like Guinness that contribute to higher histamine levels.
The only thing these two beers have in common is a healthy of dose of dark roasted barley. For some reason, that could be causing this reaction. Try another dark ale beer, something widely available would be Sierra Nevada stout, and see if the same thing happens.

This does not happen with wine or most other beers, just Guiness Extra Stout and I believe Ayinger Celebrator.
After taking a couple sips I will sneeze a couple times. Usually this leads to a mild stuffy feeling in at least one nostril.
Anything else this could be except an allergic reaction to some ingrediant or other?
I am glad Guiness is not my favourite beer.
I hope the Guniess is on the weekends as you’re doing the Anabolic Diet.

chuckles Yes I had some last Saturday along side some yogurt. I like the contrast of a stout beer and yogurt.
Today I am either going to have a Celebrator (need to test that one again for an allergic reaction) or open up the bottle of Chimay I have been saving.
Since I have to work Sunday afternoon I probably will not get a drink tomorrow.
One time I drank an American beer that was a little warm… it had been sitting out awhile - don’t remember the name. My eyes swelled up! One of them severely for about 2 days!

Chimay has spoiled me on beers period. The Cinq Cents is my fav, followed by the Grande Reserve. Same thing with Spaten Optimator and Paulaner Salvator. Just good-ass beers.

that is a NICE recommendation for a win-win situation.

Doppel Spaten “Optimator”! Ser Gut! But you must try the “Kulminator”, ice cold, with a good sausage/wurst (like the Bavarians say “Meat is the best vegetable”) 13% alcohol, it will give you a swift kick if you dont eat while drinking it (or it will culminate with you passed out on the floor!..Only thing stroger is Samichlaus bier…Bringing back fond memories of my soldierin’ daze’ there)…

I’m going to a German beer fest on the 28th, so I will definitely be on the look-out for the “Kulminator”. Thanks.
