Maybe it is a bit weird but so far it’s the only way I’ve found where I can set my shoulders right. Setting up with my hands on the bar goes terribly and I end up with a worse set up overall. I’ve tried half a dozen other set ups but mostly they just held my bench back because I couldn’t set my shoulders well.
I’m not really keen to change it… unless there’s some disadvantages to doing things this way. I can keep experimenting if there’s a good reason to change the set up

Unsolicited Opinion.
The pause deadlifts are teaching you to use more leg, and stay more upright in your deadlift. Instead of leaning over, and using lots of back, then legs, you’re using more legs and less back to start. With your improved technique, by the time you lock your knees out, the lift is basically over.
Check out your vids from November. You were more bent over or bent forward to start. When your knees locked out, you still had a long way to go to finish the lift. Look how far you used to lean back. You almost sling shotted backwards. Now, with improved technique, the lift is shorter. I think this is messing with your timing a little bit, (specifically when knees lock out and when hips come forward) causing your reps to feel inconsistent. A little more practice with non maximal weights should help you iron it out.

Some more bench work today nothing special. Feeling pretty good though because the weights feeling light in hands. 2 x 5 feeling like a bunch of warm ups.
Because @gaelic keeps bullying me and saying my bridge/set up is weird lol I tried out some other ways and this one feels promising.
I did some sets both ways and they both feel about the same.
