GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

But he did bring balance to the force though. He just took the long way around thru the dark side

Broke out the slacks for some professional appearance gains but in the months since I last wore them I gotten too fat so they all fit like tights if at all now.

So options are to lose 5kg or buy bigger pants.

There is no option. You gotta get the the bigger pants. You see those goldfish in little tanks that never grow, but as soon as you put them in a pond they get hyooge? Yeah that’s exactly what your little pants are doing to you. Don’t be a little goldfish. Be a badass guineapig :sunglasses:

Bored and just watched bench form vids so popped into the gym to work on my set up. These last few workouts/weeks are the first time ever that my bench set up feels good.

Flip Flop Bench lol

Got in about a dozen set ups and got pretty hot and sweaty by the end lol

Technique gains ftw

Trying benching in my heeled shoes. It is like good shit but I need to figure out where my feet go again

Also double bands is doubly bestest. Any other ways to set up the bands for max grippiness. Inb4 A7 bench shirt *impulse buying intensifies.

I want to get a bigger arch and also widen my grip out because currently it is like pinky on the Powerlifting rings so pretty close.

Bench only gains incoming. Repping 2 plates goals soon.

When you make technique gains but forget to make real gains

Shelf liner works too. It’s also inexpensive.

Are you discriminating against gains?

Real gains…

3/3/18

I’ll be like @BEAst_in_I and post a music vid lol. Found this gem in a video of Konstantin Konstanovs and played it every set lol

Long gruelling session on the menu today at FeelGood Fitness. Looking around there’s all kinds of rules and signs like no flip flops lol, no filming/photo without permission and stuff. No chill around here.

Squats
120kg x 3,3,3,3
Pause Squat
100kg 3,3,3

Squats are back in after what seems like forever off them and the hip is feeling good but still gonna take slow and easy. Sleeveless and beltless right now while I’m still getting used to squats again

Dropping between my legs feels better on my hip I think than a more sit back kind of squat. Even if I lose a little bit of weight on the bar I think it’s a small price to pay for longevity

First session back so bar felt heavy but strength will come back fast I hope.

Pathetic 120kg triples no belt or nothing for now.

Finished off with some pause squats. Not sure where to pause exactly… like at parallel or where you hit the stretch reflex at the bottom. Feels good but like the urge to exhale or grunt on the way up is irresistible.

Pause Bench
90kg x 4,4,4,4,4

Bit too much done on Wednesday so did lowish volume on Pause Bench. Felt alright but was definitely losing my back tightness and shoulder positioning a bit.

Double bands working well enough so not gonna buy a shelf liner or A7 bar grip shirt. It does my back funny because I slide on the bench and then suddenly hit the spot where the bands cross over in the middle like an x. Once again in heel shoes no more flip flops.

Technically haven’t set a bench rep PR or actual PR in a while but I’m confident I could step into the gym any day right now and do just that. So it’s gains

Close grip bench for the first time today so felt it out with one plate. Between getting in more volume with CGB or building starting power with pin press or something I dunno what’s better.

Close Grip Benching
60kg x 8,8

Feels weird not pausing at all maybe cos the weight is light too. I’ll build up slowly though and get some carryover gains hopefully

Sumo Deadlift
170kg x 3
180kg x 3,3,3,4,3,3,3

It worked well with bench so I’m trying lots of low rep sets instead of going for rep PRs. Hopefully it like helps technique gains too cos I think I forgot how to deadlift sumo lol.

Did some pauses off the floor during warm up sets and it helped the actual working sets. With the working weight (planned 170 but was too light so went 180kg) cueing a squeeze off the floor like a pause deadlift almost like pausing on the floor felt amazing.

Honestly I don’t know about the lots of sets idea now having done it a bit. Cos it seems to take a lot of time and is annoying. On the pro side it lets me practice hook grip a lot AKA destroy my thumbs. Might be hard to progress this way so I have no idea what to do except ask for a change in program lol maybe to lotsa pause deadlifts.

Only did pause warm ups but they felt good and immediately contributed to improved technique. I can definitely see technique gains and off the floor gains if I get them in. Maybe I can be chill on regular deadlifts and really hammer pause deadlifts cos it hits all my weaknesses in one?

@Vincepac1500 I’ve never seen you do pauses but thoughts? Anyone else

Press
50kg x 9,9,9 Rep PR

Press feeling good just straight gains. Pretty sure lifetime rep PR here. Inb4 Log Press world record

Pull Up
BW + 10kg x 4,5,5,5,5,5

Bunch of accessory work for back, shoulders and chest to finish things off. Favourite machine is the good girl bad girl machine lol

Thnx for music gains.

Pause deadlifts pretty much right off the floor are a great assistance exercise for some lifters (not everyone tho). Look up Mike Tuchscherer cos he has got a hard on for paused work. Plenty of other lifters are fans of it also but there’s a little bit of controversy.

If your weaknesses are such that pause deadlifts address them then they are immensely useful. On the flip side there are lifters who wouldn’t benefit much from pauses and are better off putting their time/effort elsewhere.

Obviously for you it has benefit so go for it.

Also dem plates/platform are loud as fuck when dropped. As if you don’t get complaints for that shit.

I do them but not often. I think their great for getting the form down on sumo.
