I been trying to tell him since forever. I watch these videos thinking “okay, that was the warmup” only to realize a second later that it was the PR lift.

I know. When I lift, I want to feel the danger. Knowing the bar might just kill me this time. It’s how I know I am alive.

My grandfather used to say “if I woke up in the morning and nothing hurt, I would assume I was dead.”

He also said “someone who chooses a drinks like that is also going to set fire to houses” when I would drink whisky. He was of the opinion that spirits had to be clear and see through (Obstler was the preferred choice).

The two are completely unrelated and I didn’t have a coffee yet this morning.

Boiz @Cyrrex @Koestrizer we loaded up a bench PR today.

Been a long time between bench PRs but I think we found a training set up that works. Still managing shoulder pain but able to progress alright. Lets finally hit 3 plates and go even further beyond

PIG TIPS:

Secret exercise for sexy bench: 3:1:3 Tempo Bench Press

Have been doing this movement the last two blocks and it’s been mucho technique gains. Would highly recommend if you have a slot of a technique focused movement with relatively light loads.

When u slow down everything, the eccentric, concentric and pause u have to be tight and maintain good positioning throughout the lift. You can feel when u are not executing right and can even correct in real time.

Concentric tempos are something I’ve changed my mind on in the past year. I used to think that you shouldn’t be slowing down a concentric phase when ur meant to be trying to lift hard/fast, that it would fook up the movement patterns but now I think there is certainly a lot of utility to them.

Just remember to warn up spotters that it’ll be slow on the way up too so they don’t panik. Also tell chicks that ur going slow on purpose to be cool not struggling because ur weak lol.

3 Weeks Out

Real peak started this week. Replaced the Ed Sheeran music with metal. We’ve been purposefully chilling out the past 2 weeks (low arousal & caffeine too), just biding our time, but it’s time to go hard into comp.

Honestly the first two weeks of the block have been mucho discouraging. Weights 10-20kg less than I was hitting consistently thru last block were feeling just as hevy on squats and deadlifts

Most notable lift since starting the peak peak is a 242.5kg squat. I was pretty nervous building up to it because squats felt shit and I’ve missed pretty much this weight before (245kg end of last block), which is also the only squat I’ve ever missed thus far. Ended up hitting it solid enough. Hopefully hit more on comp day. So squats seems aight as we peak peak.

We will see how deadlifts go soon

My low back is still an issue. Can’t brace as well as usual. Hasn’t gotten any worse. Hasn’t gotten any better either. We are probably going to have to carry it into comp. I believe I’m capable of training hard and hitting my numbers on the day still.

Last couple weeks of peak generally feel like shite. Don’t stress it. Just practice good reps and do the work. It will call come together on the day

Cheeky 140 Bench PR. Not in my log title atm but we can check off the three plate mark now.

More happy to have found a training set up that actually allows us to progress after having stalled for a solid year. Less volume and intensity then I would’ve thought but it’s working and there’s plenty more to be milked out of it. Now just to ride the wave
