Are these the sumo sole ones? How do you like them compared to the regulair ones. (i have the v1’s)… Considering upgrading with the next drop, or going for those kabuki shoes…
Si. Got them in the most recent drop. Had to order in 30 seconds of the store opening to get it lol.
I’ve only had the gen 2 notorious lifts to compare to. These ones fit about the same. I understand the sizing changes from gen 1 to gen 2 and these.
Smidge more lateral support and bit more grip. The little nubs that make the grip I think it might make the sole a bit thicker than the gen 2s but not by much so that’s a little off putting but lifting in em feels as close to the ground .
Comparing me old slippies to these it’s going to feel even better once they break in but it’s not so much better that it’s a must buy. I don’t think the Ursus ate much of an upgrade on the slippies unless u prefer something with a wide toe box or laces.
Ima stick with the notorious lifts for years it looks like . Might upgrade to their later models if I fancy
Damn, these deadlifts are really insane. Squat looking amazing as well, super clean and solid. Impressed by your stance width as well, my left knee and hips would explode
Both of those took a bit of time to get the hang of and pretty comfortable pretty positions now that I think about it. Specific loaded mobility work is the way.
This is what me stiff legs look like from the other night if anyone’s curious. Pretty far from my comp style sumo deadlift. Not too far off parallel to the ground back angle and I start the bar over my toes to make it more demanding.
Conventional variations are pretty taxing on top of comp deadlifting but they build dat posterior well. Maybe one for every other session.
Looks like a perfect hip hinge to me.
Pigs lifting is almost always textbook form, never looks hard either. #jealous.
Ye the emphasis is just different to sumo. I’ve never pulled more than 200 hundo in a conventional variation before so if I push volume on it might get there sooner or later
looks like it’s still a warm up for you Guinea!!
Ye I actually I need some more RPE 8+ to get used to grinding a bit more.
Felt hard enough think 250 is about an opener rn but we’ll see where we end up
you would crush that like I eat cake!!!
And I eat alot of cake ahahah
Carbs are the preferred fuel source for high intensity activity after all.
Was curious to see how I’d pull up from heavy deads recently and wasn’t good but wasn’t too bad either.
Worked up to 3x2 at 190kg squat in wraps and was a bit all over the place definitely felt on the harder side of things so just got in work. Not as bad as the last time I squatted post deadlift because at the time felt like I’d strain my spinal erectors. This time more just felt heavy and tekkers felt off.
Bench wasn’t half bad though. Top set TnG 120kg x 6. Burnt out quick in a funny way mid way up when I usually fail off the chest. I dunno. It’s decent work anyways
Interesting choice of tracks, can’t go wrong with a bit of hakuna matata lol
I think we all need some hakuna mattata these days
Yeah, especially after Sunday’s announcement.
I don’t think gyms will be open for a while, you going to upgrade the home set up?
Ye looks like at least until Novembi that I can access gyms and my mates home gym again. I’m not opposed to upgrading the home set up but there’s not too much I can buy at this point.
I got a power-bar coming in that I bought back in April. Didn’t know it’d be this long. Little cable and pulley system as well. I sold like 700 bucks worth of my things a little bit ago to fund some uprgrades. Still got a pair of 20kg calibrated plates too coming in from Goliath that I bought with those funds. Wanna limit myself to 260kg so I don’t go to crazy.
I could sell me Aldi rack and put those funds towards a rack upgrade. Maybe something in the 3-800 range but its a fair amount of dollarinos even with the old rack offsetting the $$. As much as I’d love a GHR or back raise the decent ones are at least a couple of hundred so for a new months seems a bit much to spend (though I could re-sell em after for a decent chunk). Dip station but same deal again a bit much for a few months. Fuck it while I’m at it I’ll chuck in a leg press/hack squat combo machine for at least a grand and a belt squat too for good measure
Snuck in some bench volume tonight ~ 10 work sets between comp benching and DB press.
Going to have a pretty chill rest of the week on the back of a bunch of work between doing me masters of teaching coursework and 6 classes a week student teaching. It’s good fun if hard work.
Looks like we’ll be locked down for a while longer. 1-3 months. So home gym it is
Spotted a deadlift jack in stock so treated myself to that. It’ll make deadlifting a bit easier not using energy to load the calibrated plates. As per above post I may upgrade me rack as well. Nothing too expensive but i reckon in this climate I’ll be able to sell my supermarket rack for about 200 kangaroo dollars to offset the cost of upgrading the rack.
Maybe this rack. Not too expensi with after selling the old rack.
Picked up some notorious sumo soles today… how are you liking yours?
