Kinda training related considering I’ve been posting a lot about Fatigue-Recovery but Ima go get tested for COVID-19 tomoz. My sister started showing symptoms this evening and I was around her about three days ago.
I feel relatively fine as I type this out so may be nothing. My gym performance has been up obviously cos I crushed squat PBs yesterdi but maybe COVID has a minor effect of performance.
It’s more of a inconvenience life wise because I’m meant to be doing assignments and doing work/placement at school but not gonna go super smooth. Fingers crossed on extension requests for assignments being approved
You could easily be one of the people who experience minimal/no symptoms from CoVid. I’m reasonably confident that me and my whole family had it at the start of the outbreak over here. We all felt slightly off for a few days, that’s about it. Babies had very slight fevers and were more tired than usual, me and the missus just felt slightly off. No dramas.
Well I got tested for COVID-19. Will get results in 2-5 days. Continue to be symptom free so by the letter of the law here in Victoria, Australia I can continue to do tings. I’ll err on the side of caution I think and won’t be going to school until results are in.
I’ve left my home gym stuff in Melbourne unfortunately and if restrictions step up again I won’t have access to my mates home gym in Bendigo. Driving back and picking it up is risking a fine for breaching restrictions.
It is a deload to be fair so could be worse. While it won’t be full force, given I didn’t prep for it i.e going super hard before deloading, I could get super compensation effects from the time off if it ain’t too long.
Awaiting COVID test results and news on further lockdown measures. Not gonna make any moves or train until that news comes in.
Even if theoretically light days are more effective than time off during general training and dedicated deloads I usually tend towards time off because I find it hard to be chill in the gym. Not enjoying straight time off right now though. I deload rarely these days (maybe I don’t train hard enough lol) so I’m curious as to how performance will be in a few days.
Sister got cleared of COVID so I’m in the clear, relatively. Back to the gains following a pseudo deload due to the time off.
Deadlifts felt terrible technique and strength wise but got in the work. Went with the prescribed work up to a comfortable top set of 220kg x 5 with plenty in tank so estimated-1RM wise I’m not far off my best.
Weight moved but it was kinda uncomfortable on my hip/lower back. Dunno exactly what’s up. Maybe I’ve stiffened up a bit since it’s been a full week since my last deadlift sesh.
Fun little bench sesh today. Top single @ 130kg. Clean pause and best this weights ever moved. Might’ve had three plates/140kg today if I went for it but I’m good boi.
Followed up with some less comfy DB benching @ 47.5kg to get me back on the big boi side of the DB rack.
