The pressing looked all very smooth. Definitely more in the tank on the top set. Like 2-3 from the looks of it?
I should have specified my comments on arm wrestling to a degree. As I have no clue about it as a sport. All my experience was done on tables (mostly placed in bars). I once hurt my elbow pretty nasty. Well not really damaged but I had pain for about 2 months. Wasn’t good for lifting. But my elbows are basically pussys.
Maybe not that many extra reps. Slows down a lot with each subsequent rep because my bench stroke is pretty long and drains grinding power.
Yeah. At this point my tissues aren’t very well conditioned to go at it on the table so going hard against the boiz beats up my joints. General arm wrestling training I can be smart/safe about it
They are a great movement. Don’t do them enough these days I think but there’s plenty of gains to be made there. I started off lifting in calisthenics style training so dips have always felt nice when I’ve gone back to them
News is that gyms are opening where I’m at towards the end of next month. That’s the plan at least as long as things continue to go well covid wise.
Earlier than I was anticipating by some distance. May have to return the bench and weight plates I’m currently renting. Most likely will go back to the private powerlifting/strongman facility I just signed up at pre lock down.
Will have some options for home gym training. Would need a bench and to recall some of the weights I’ve rented out myself so a grand total of like 200kg of weight.
Gonna put that stimulus money right into the economy. What’s the go on ur gym? Weren’t u gon sign up somewhere else? I forget where u are based north east?
I’m in Willy mate, gym is 5 mins down the road. They called me last week just to ya hi and see how I am. I will go back there when it re-opens, it has everything I need and is so close it’s a no brainer.
Good day today. Went in wanting at least some small PRs and hit more than I couldve hoped for with rep PBs 175kg x 5 in sleeves and 200kg x 2 in wraps (PB single but felt aight so went for a dub). More in the tank too on both.
Been pretty intimidated by heavier squats since injuring my back but this is a nice confidence boost. First big PRs since that injury and first time the wide stance squat has been clearly better than close stance. Maybe mental limits broken now and floodgates gonna open for some big gains.
Almost forgot @hardartery was meant to do heavy walkouts with 200kg because that’s intimidating weight for me but I forgot but I guess this works too lol. I’m thinking in sleeves appropriate weight would be between 200kg - 220kg for walkouts?
Might have to change up the log title to aim for bigger than 600kg total because I’m pretty much good for it now but it’s just a nice round number lol. Maybe 1400 lbs (637ish kg) but I’m not chasing numbers just progress via doing the process well.
“Pig’s Road To 1400“ for all them freedom unit buffs
Still pretty scared/intimidated tbh but next one I want is 200kg in sleeves. Not sure if I’ll make 270kg deadlift because gyms are opening again soon. About two months earlier than I anticipated but no biggy
Squats in flats going well so gonna be doing a lot of work between them and deads in flat shoes. Have used generic slippers the the past few months and enjoyed them. They are fraying a bit now and was feeling a bit spendy so dropped some $$$ on Notorious Lift slippers.
Looked at Bearfoot Athletics’ Ursus (Chris Duffin company) but they didn’t offer manlet sizing smallest they had was 7 US
Didn’t have any slippage or rolling issues with the generic slippers despite their lack of lateral support and grippy soles on wide stance squats and sumo deadlifts so I dunno how much of a benefit those features will be on the new slippers but at least they’ll last me longer because of their construction. Metatarsal straps also a neutral feature so as long as they don’t bother me I won’t snip em off lol.
