@kckfl349 did some first rep hook and rest of reps straps and it worked pretty well. Saved thumbs while still conditioning them and training hook technique. 230 for a double today is the most I’ve hooked also. If I can get that sweet balance between conditioning and saving the thumbs I think I can hold onto anything.
Repping 240kg is no joke mate, good stuff
Hopefully be repping 250 next chance I get for a big deadlift sesh
Sometimes I wonder if your plates are just filled with air like in a Looney Toons show.
Rented some from the strongest man in the world Brad Castleberry
Am I expected to google that name now?
The OG fake weight plates for social media clout guy.
So like those Acme 1000lbs plates.
Goddammit, I watched that entire video. My takeaways:
-Brad is strong
-Brad probably flexes for the camera after taking a dump
-Brad looks like he’d be an excellent friend.
Awesome deadlifts!! How many times a week do you work each lift?
I can say the hook is going better for me as well too. Still uncomfortable but i think my thumbs are starting to get conditioned as well. May 16 Im gonna attemp the 250KG with hook. Well see how that goes…
Varies a bit. Less is more in terms of overall work but I lose the groove quick without frequent practice. So per week it’ll be like
Bench: 3-4x
Squats: 1-2x
Deadlifts: 1-2x
Upper/Lower Body Bodybuilding Stuff: 2-3x
I believe in u
Should see a quality stiff bar come in this week.
Gonna use it for all the movements and reintroduce stiff bar sumo deadlifts to keep me honest and balance out the meme deadlifts.
Will sell off my shitty one, recoup some funds and that’ll be about all I need for my quarantine gym.
I showed my Mrs one just the other night ![]()
This quarantine biz has gotta be close to blowing over. News tonight said SA only has 23 active cases. Shit’s pretty well normal for us, apart from no snags at Bunnings and the pub being shut.
I hope they keep the Vic border closed once this done though ![]()
Feels like we are on the back end. If the kinda catastrophe avoiding panic phase at least. The world will be in for the long haul maintenance phase afterward.
A lot of fitness equipment suppliers have got stuff for May-June preorder, some going out of their way to stock stuff they don’t usually have anything to do with and I think they are a little late to the party to profit off the boom in hole gym shit.
As you know I have bought a bunch of (overpriced) cheap junk to get by, but this whole thing has me wondering if I will ever go back to the commercial gym like before. Or if the gym as we know it will have to fundamentally change and I won’t even want to go there. In other words, if I should consider putting together a real home gym.
There’ll be less gyms open and more home gym equipment in the market for what it’s worth. Some good gyms will be dead.
Have thought the same about a home gym but decided against at this time. Am about 1/3 of the way to a home gym I’d be happy with right now so a fair ways to go. Might even pick up a few pieces on the back end of this crisis if prices are good.
Long term I’m looking settle rural so a home gym may be what I end up with. Right now I based more in the city where I have access to very nice gyms and have/will soon have sexy enough bars that I can use to terrorise any run of the mill commercial gym in a country town if need be.
When I find out where I’m gonna hunker down for a bit with a job then I’ll think about putting in the 2-3 grand to finish the home gym.
Where exactly do you train now? Your videos already give off a “home gym” vibe.
I rather enjoy going to the commercial gym, so I am not sure what I will do.
