I’m still around but won’t be too many long write ups. Top set felt heavy, moved slow, sloppy af but 230kg x 3 on thin plates.

Signed up today. Found out they got 24/7 access now. 10mins from home and on the way to uni. Beats travelling to Doherty’s saving 20-30mins round trip. I want the extra time and convenience plus I don’t think I’ll be going on many adventures into the city over next year and a half.

Great gym, wish I was a little closer.

Bar had the most aggressive knurling I’ve ever touched. Very little margin for error because would tear skin. Wasn’t hooking it very well. I think this is the comp bar that the gym uses also. In that case will have to either hook grip smooth partially or completely or use mix grip

It is the comp bar they use, I used it when I did my novice comp there. It is very aggressive but means it doesn’t slip unless it takes skin with it !!

Sharpest knurling I’ve felt and I’ve handled a few DL bars. Makes it a pain to set up hook. Inconsistent at best.

I’ve held fully on the smooth up to like 220kg + and failed heavier because wasn’t strong enough not because of grip.

If our sumo lord and saviour @Vincepac1500 can hook the smooth Hevy then I’ll be fine.

Best is 815 on the smooth but haven’t pulled heavier than that. The bar has to be used. A new bar causes slippage.

I don’t think the bar is particularly new but is too sharp. Have you had anything on the knurling before like a pinky

I was training gripping the knurling after dropping my 670 opener at my last meet. It tends to pinch where my thumb and palm meet. I’ve since come back to the smooth, as long as the bar is broken in and I’ve got chalk I would think I could hold high 800s on the smooth.

Not a real PR but heaviest I’ve held mix grip today off blocks @ 220kg.

Hook grip ain’t on right now but seems mixed might be there. Mix grip doesn’t feel particularly secure so will get in some extra grip work.

Roughs up the back of my underhand against my thigh hard though. Will blister if I’m not careful.

Mostly I’m low key proud of myself for sticking to the plan, not overshooting and getting in a successful light day.
