GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

Think about squeezing really hard with my index and thumb when setting my bench grip. This internally rotates the hand a smidge and puts the bar right in the bottom of the palm. Theoretically best wrist position to be pressing through.

Last workout it had the bar feeling light in the hands without wraps which is something I’ve haven’t had consistently before. Have enough confidence to hit some PRs on an otherwise average day.

Great feeling when you find a new effective cue. Will try this next time I bench. So probably in a few months lol.

U should’ve chosen strongman brother. Looks like a lot more fun and u still bench

Looked into it, but nowhere I can train most of the lifts. Would love to have somewhere with stones and logs.

Kalle Beck has a book on how to train for strongman in a regular gym on his site

I believe its doable, just seems to take away half the fun of doing strongman. The fun events.

I saw you’ve posted videos at Legends which had log/stones/yoke when I was last there, but I presume that isn’t your usual haunt?

Definitely not, was a fair old drive to get there. Went for one session for pre competition deadlift bar practice.

W3D1 Prep I Volume

Focusing on accumulating volume while I have more gym time available. In a few weeks work and my masters at uni will ramp up.

Abs a bit sore from SSB (strange) but squats were still decent. Maintaining a high level relative to past peak performance while not peaked and other sub optimal readiness factors means things is looking good. Volume PB.

First time doing hack squats for volume afterwards. They were tough but good. Quads feeling thiccer than ever. Can’t leg drive on bench afterward though lol.

Bench confidence is high post rep PBs last sesh. May have been partially a mental barrier but I believe again. Top wise grip bench double @ 115kg, PB DB Press @ 40kg and volume PB overall.

Solid sesh. Volume PBs on squat and bench. Long one ~2.5 hrs but volume is the goal.

Sometimes i miss going to the gym for the sole reason i miss out on accessory opportunities.

Some creative exercise selection can’t make up for that?

Just doing things like leg extensions and curls on machines give a good pump. I feel like my quads are lacking. May need to start throwing in some extra accessories. Wish you could set an order of importance for the extra accessories rather than one focus.

Just add in exercises that u want ez

W3D2 Prep I

Light deadlift/bench sesh on a hot day not fun.

Bench is peaking hard. Between close grip and pinch grip weight feels light/stable in the hands and comfortable on the chest. Easily stronger than ever.

Taking it easy on bench today, not allowed to push the intensity, so tried to pause for longer time PBS to feel like I’m progressing. Long pause bench favourite variation rn.

Deficit deads and posterior chain work not fun but solid work.

Ain’t feeling to hot in general. Couple of days terrible sleep catching up.

Yea, got adjustable ones up to 80LB. The handles can hold up to 120LB each.

W3D3 Prep I

Hot stormy day in Bendigo making for muggy sweaty training conditions at Revival Gym.

Went off program today because I wanted to play with knee wraps again. Hit 180kg x reps for a PB in wraps. It roughed up my knees good. Haven’t touched wraps since I injured my back so Makes sense but it is a good start.

3x5 on TnG Bench @ 110kg after which might be a volume PB i dun remember. Good sign that I can get in work after getting crushed by squats and drowned in sweat beforehand.
