GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

It’s not for cardiovascular health reasons, walking is actually supposed to help make your back feel better.

Well 30mins brisk walk a day, split as you wish minimum ten minutes each sesh, is the recommendations for cardio. Seems like McGill recommends more if possible. Would walking on the spot or using a standing desk set up be beneficial to some degree?

Not sure, but staying in the same position too long, whether sitting or standing, is not good. Apparently some people have more pain standing than sitting.

I’m deskbound a lot but can set a timer to get up every so often. Feels like it reverses the stiffness/pain that has built up for me. Only 5-10mins to get those benefits. I’ll be able to squeeze in longer walks but I’d have to multitask those like listening to a lecture or talking to the gf or something

Yeah, that would be a good idea. Sitting too much could be a major factor in your back issue. You should read Back Mechanic, it would probably help more than going to a doctor. Unless you need surgery or drugs (and those are the last things you would want) then the main thing is to avoid movements and position that aggravate your back pain and strengthen/stabilize your core muscles.

If I play my cards right the doc can sign off on some re imbursed physiotherapist sessions for me. Get about 50 bucks AUD off a session through our Medicare system

Based on what I’m reading from McGill it might be a waste of time. You just have some minor back tightness, right? Nothing debilitating? Like I already said, the main strategy is to avoid aggravating you back and to strengthen/stabilize core muscles, there’s not much else that can be done.

It’s super discounted massage worst case.

@guineapig i wrote Chris a lengthy reply in his log recently. See if you can pick something up from there. You got nothing to lose except a few minutes of reading anyway

That is a lot of reading with no TLDR lol. No promises I might read it laters.

With a happy ending of course

My man

Not saying I condone that sort of behavior, but if you can get the government to pay for your hookers you definitely have something going for you.

Straya

What does that mean?

It’s a joke word that sounds like Australia hence ‘straya and usually describes something over the top that is Australian

Ok, so government-funded prostitutes are an Australian tradition, I get it.

YOLO max on weighted chins to finish off a training cycle of chin ups. Couple of extra reps on top of my previous 1RM @ BW + 40kg, a single @ BW+50kg and a fail with 55kg. Bodyweight @ 84.9kg in the gym full of water and brekky for fuel.

Decent gains this cycle but not really happy with the energy today. Maybe another day there’d have been a bit more there. Lessons learned: beware big fatigue from big chins, stick to sub RPE 8 and increase top end strength probably by being stricter on ROM. so next time I come back to chins there’ll be another PR there.

Pretty draining even with low volume so home to chill.

Weighted Chin Ups Up to 1 @ BW+50kg
Chest Supported Row 4 Sets @ 3 plates
Back Raises 3 Sets @ BW
Rear Delt Flye 4 Sets @ 115
Curls/Hammers 3 Sets @ 15kg
