GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

Shoulder day today.

Strict Press strength not where it used to be. Used to hit 1 plate for 12 though to be fair I was fatter then. Can hit about half that now maybe 6-7 so it’s not bad considering I’m 7-8kg lighter.

Overhead Press 4x5 @ 60kg
Incline DB 4 Sets @ 27.5kg
Upright Rows 3 Sets @ 20kg
Incline Y Raises 3 Sets @ 4kg
Side Raises 3 Sets @ 8kg
Face Pull 3 Sets

Visited Footscray Station Hotel for the first time on the way home from the city. Only here for desert tonight but looks like if I’m ever feeling spendy this looks to be one of the best steak experiences that Melbourne offers.

Feeling pretty tired today. Had a big week and poor sleep.

Back workout on the menu starting with weighted chins. Feels heavy but moved strong. 4 reps with one more in the tank for 3 Sets. It’s a bit hard to hold the big DBs between my legs. Not sure if there’s a good dip belt around to use. Thinking back I don’t think I’ve ever pushed low rep chins so we’ll see where it takes us.

Been watching too much strongman bullshit. Front loaded carries are fun. Doesn’t bother my back at all. Misjudged weight though I thought hugging a 25kg bumper to my chest would be sufficient but feels too easy. Probably need quite a bit of weight to be challenging enough I think but might get awkward to hold at that point. So far it feels like “speed” work in that I can move fast with anything. Tried doubling the distance and that made it a cardio/holding it properly and keeping it there exercise. Any tips @BEAst_in_I

I found Front Carries awkward to train for without a decent implement. I tried doing it with 100lb bumpers but it didn’t feel hard and the rubber coating was really harsh, imo worse than a natural rock. I ended up training for a keg carry using zercher carries. I don’t know how that would pan out with your back issue though

Barbell seal rows feeling much better than last time. Considering that was the first time doing them fair enough. Worked up to 55kg for 12 easy so that’s a good amount of improvement on last time around. Gonna keep nudging this lift every time it comes around and we’ll see how swole I get. Grip is bit more solid on the farmers walk too which can’t hurt and foot speed good.

Barbell Seal Row 4 Sets @ 40-55kg
DB Shrugs 5 Sets @ 35kg
Back Raises 3 Sets @ BW
Farmers Walk 4 Sets @ 40kg
Rear Delt Flye 3 Sets @ 115

Ran into this in Numurkah, a random small town in Northern Victoria. Not the highest grade of marbelling available in Oz but it’s a start. Maybe one day I’ll make my way over to japan for the good stuff

looking good Hamster… I want one too.
And it’s almost 100% australian

There’s a bunch of cattle crossbred with Japanese breeds here and a handful of full blooded. The dude manning the counter didn’t quite know where it came from

I have only ever had ground Wagyu, since that’s all my place of work gets, but its pretty good.

What work do you do? Meat processing

Tbh I’d go choice level decent cut over ground wagyu any time. It’s in the sexy cuts that wagyu shines. One day I’ll make it to some A5 goodness

I can get it dirt cheap every once in a while, 1/5th of the normal price, just something to get everyonce in while. If I had my pick the Prime Ribeye we have is soooo good but $22.99/lb

*does math. About 30 AUD so that’s better like cheaper and nicer quality then most Australians get. Do you work at a Costco or something
