Smashing the chins mate, you made em look easy
I’ll see where this training cycle goes or maybe the next one but I’d like to end up hitting a few reps with 40+ kg strapped on me. I think best I’ve done is 40kg x 3 before I started really into Powerlifting
14/5/19
Pretty good sesh today. Was pretty chill with little psychological hype or arousal because I was playing games on my phone between sets. Good work done though. Solid.
Pause Bench 4 Sets @ 82.5kg
Incline Bench 3 Sets @ 62.5kg
Dips 3 Sets @ BW+17.5kg
Flyes 2 Sets @ 47
DB Upright Row 3 Sets @ 20kg
Side Delts 1 Set
Front Raises 4 Sets @ 6kg
Triceps 3 Sets
40kg? Jesus Christ I’d just like to be able to do a couple bodyweight sets of 8 right now. I hit pull-ups pretty regularly but man I’m just terrible at them. Maybe I’m not actively trying to progress on them? It seems like a couple sets of 8 is always out of reach.
It’s probably ur big head weighing you down but yeh it’s like most other lifts that the more you focus the better you get. There’s a lot of stuff one can do from CAT style reps, more weight etc.
Would be cool if there was a set of rules for a “comp” pull up like the powerlifting lifts then peeps could compete.
Would be good, but heaps of variables with the actual weight being pulled due to bodyweight etc.
I have seen some comp somewhere on YouTube, strength wars or something a while back, ball busting squats, then weighted chins, then dead’s for reps etc.
Weigh the guy and the weight. Highest Weight Pulled Up wins
Edit nvm that’d be biased. So just so weight classes as above. Ez
Sounds like a t nation challenge in the making brah. Don’t forget about the 315 bench. Should also mention @losthog I know he’s close.
Not feeling too hot today. Two solid training days in a row and poor sleep last night probably why. Easy sesh scheduled today anyways so that’s good timing.
Weighted Chin Ups 2 Sets @ BW+20kg
DB Seal Row 3 Sets @ 25kg
Bicep 3 Sets @ 15kg
DB Shrugs 3 Sets @ 30kg
Farmers Walk 4 Sets @ 37.5kg
Rear Delts 3 Sets @ 18
There definitely are a set of rules for competition chins. In Finland we have chinning competitions all the time.
Start at dead hang and pull until your clavicles are at bar height is a pretty good way to regulate it.
How is use of momentum in the lower body controlled for
Sometimes with a plastic wall in front of the dude doing chins - you can’t hit it.
Other times it’s just judged like squat depth or powerlifting in general; one upward movement, you can’t go back down before you’ve cleared the bar or you’ll fail
More rehab stuff today with some more specific movements like BW squats and such.
Feels good to move. Real good. I’m optimistic about loading the movements again in future but for now I might play with the belt squat a bit and see if I can set it up to work a squat and a sumo deadlift movement pattern. Might see if I can tweak my schedule to get access to more
Something like these:
If you can get on a reverse hyper I suggest you do some light high rep sets. It is progressing my recovery.
I’m thinking of doing some belt squat next time in the gym just to hit the squat from a different angle…
This 90-90 position is feeling pretty good. I think I’ll just stay here forever lol
I think there’s a reverse hyper at one of the gyms I have membership at. I’m wary of it because I heard once that it can injure some people.
The belt squat will be useful for me I think if I can wrap enough padding around my waist so it doesn’t hurt
Brainstorming some holiday destinations for the uni break with the gf.
Got a 5k travel voucher so maybe somewhere on the cheaper side of things. Cairns, Perth/Rottnest so far.
Im not really looking for anything in particular. Good food probably but can find that anywhere. Gf likes nature and animals.
Australian brahs got any destinations to recommend?
Chris Ottawa’s favorite Stuart McGill hates it if I remember correctly since it does actually put a lot of stress on the low back. I think he said there’s actually a lot of compressive forces on the low back when using it
I was under the vague impression that it was to do with the repeated spinal flexion or something
Perth is good, very quiet and spaced out. Ripper ribs at a place called Tony Roma’s there, along with a baked potato and chips. The Mrs and I enjoyed it so much we went back the next night.
Heaps of shit to do in Sydney, plus good food, Hunter Barrel was my fav, great steak, chicken, and other flesh on the menu.
Goldy is alright, food is ok, great Italian restaurant just off Cavill Ave, plus you’ve got the theme parks etc to keep you from being bored.
Here in boring old Adelaide, the Little Hunter does some awesome animal flesh.
Brissie has some alright places to eat and other shit to do.
@I_Luc covered most of it. I would add anywhere on the Sunshine Coast to that list, like Noosa. Nice beaches, good weather plenty of places to eat. Franks gym in Noosa is small but it has everything you’ll need for a good workout
