GuineaPig’s Training Log - Hunt 300 Deadlift

Missed quite a few posts here. How’s the back piggie?

It’s on the mend but I can’t say it’s progressing super fast like I’d like. Kinda demotivating and feelsbadman

Only had a couple of sessions of lower body and haven’t really tested it fully. Seems like I can squat alright and deadlift still unsure of.

Winding up with the uni break week. Have been training a little bit over the week but nothing too crazy. Bit of everything today to get in some volume.

Touch and go bench feeling strange tbh compared to pausing. I suspect the strength on these too movements are pretty close so maybe spending some time touch and going will be useful. Overhead Press feeling strong but awkward today probably because I’ve spent some time away from the movement.

Felt out low bar squats today. No issues with ma back but I’m not feeling super confident.

TnG Bench 3 Sets @ 90kg
OHP 3 Sets @ 50kg
Flyes 2 Sets
Delts 8 Sets
Low Bar Squats Sets x Reps @ 120-140kg

Watched the Kern US Open this morning with lifters like Yury Belkin squatting 415kg and Cailer Woolam pulling 431kg was pretty cool. Would’ve been hype if I was healthy but made me sad because I’m hurt and can’t go ham.

Avengers Endgame tonight so looking forward to that.

Avengers Endgame looks the goods. Enjoy.
What are you studying at uni mate? How long you got left?

Got 75 credit points left for a Bachelors of Health Science so like 5 subjects. Looking to split it up a bit so maybe two semesters worth. It doesn’t technically lead into a profession but through my studies I’ve picked up an interest in health promotion like pretty much exercise > better health so I could go along that route. Or use the bachelor as a gateway into post grad pathways like education.

Since a couple of you guys on here are in the field I was gonna ask you guys some stuff later on

Don’t go into medicine if you want to keep your soul. Lol jk

Do both. You need to pause in a meet so you need to be used to that, but t&g helps to train the stretch reflex which means more power off the chest when you do pause.

Don’t you have a belt squat machine there? That would be perfect to get some squat volume in.

I’m not smart enough to go that route brother. Also probably too demanding tbh.

I go to a couple of gyms all about. The one with the belt squat less often right now. One thing is that the harness started digging in really uncomfortably with only a bit of weight. I dunno if I was wearing it wrong or not but every position I tried was ouch

Have you seen a professional with your back Hamster.
If it doesn’t go away in a couple of weeks then one might consider doing that.
All in with Chris about doing both TnG and paused if you’re doing a meet.

It’s been (looks back through log) two weeks. Depends on the trajectory of things but I got private insurance to see a physio if needed

Is it really that bad? Thought it was a minor niggle ?

It’s not traumatic or life destroying but it ain’t a simple muscle strain either

Honestly, it’s less about being smart or not, and more on how bad you want it. Got some really smart classmates that ended up quitting early even if their grades were really in the top 10% of the batch. They simply realized it really wasn’t for them. My grades in college and med proper were shit yet thankfully I was able to finish.

But yes, it really is very demanding. Do yourself a favor, save yourself and don’t even think about it. Kidding aside, you can always ask me about it if ever it enters your mind to try and go lol

This wouldn’t be a bad choice. I’ve had a couple of student teachers doing their Grad Dip, some have been fantastic, others have struggled with the course as it’s a shortened version of the 4 year degree with less time at the coal front. At the end of it, you’ve got a dynamic job that’s never boring, unless your like the old and stale teachers doing the same thing over and over, great pay and hours, plus holidays every 10 weeks.

Lotsa upper body volume today. Feeling alright and was able to get through it solid enough. Upper body pressing doesn’t really bother my back so can probably push that on.
