Late night sesh at Doherty’s Brunswick. Not many people around so a different kind of nice.

Fatigue ratings at SBD 512. Squats always kinda draining especially rep work. Bench feeling fresh again.

Face Pull 3 Sets
Bench 12x2 @ 100kg
TnG Bench 5x8 @ 80kg

Wanted to bench a bit on the Eleiko power bar with calibrated plates. Feels a bit different.

The comp bench in this gym is actually in another room and I can’t be bothered lugging all that shit over there. At most sometimes I bring a power bar over.

Actual bench work itself was pretty routine and cruisy.

Squat 6x4 @ RPE 7.5
Pause Squat 4x5 @ 120kg

Squatting out the monolift feeling terrible.

With the squat racks I like to ram my back into the bar and against them to set my upper back but the monolift hooks move all over the place and one side more than the other. Really can’t get my back anywhere near as tight as I’m used to.

Hopefully in comp there’s a more stable monolift or someone can hold the catches a bit for me

Felt super heavy on my back but got it feeling better by the end. Actually surprised I got through squats wasn’t feeling them at all but set after set kept going lol. Just pictured my gym nemesis.

Better get my fooking belt tomoz even though it is a rest day (or I might be like fuck it and go play with the new belt)

If that’s the case then no need to worry too much about the wraps for now. You could just work up to a heavy set of 1-3 every once in a while if you want but mostly stick to your program.

Did Blevins give you any advice about competing in wraps? If not, then maybe consider switching to Juggernaut AI coaching a few months before the meet because I’m sure Chad can sort that out for you.

I’ll probably go for a little bit of wrapped work.

Blevins himself never did get on it. Just a couple of other blokes on the FB group.

I’ve heard that hopefully by next year Juggernaut AI and this one will be fused together with some other coaching styles also and an app that’ll make things much easier. Can stop this program after any block so might be able to transition easily into a different AI program

Yeah, that’s not really good. If the coach himself can’t provide a strategy for competing in wraps then it’s better to find another coach for the actual meet prep. I don’t really blame Blevins, he is a raw IPF lifter after all so wraps are not his thing. It might be worth contacting Chad Wesley Smith at some point and tell him your situation, find out when exactly he would recommend getting into wraps and such for a newer lifter such as yourself. At that point you could switch over to his coaching. I’m sure Blevins program is decent at the very least, doing a whole bunch of volume work half a year out from a meet never hurt anyone.

If you’re itching to get into wraps what I would do is work up to a challenging triple in wraps maybe every 2nd week, do this on your main squat day and before the volume work. And cut maybe 2-3 sets of the volume work if you’re doing submax doubles or triples. Aim to add 5-10lbs to your wrapped set each time, but try to stay at RPE8 or below because it does get fatiguing, look at it as heavy technique work. And wrap as tight as possible, otherwise with the Iron Z’s you won’t get much and there isn’t really anything to the technique.

Piggy Weekly Update + Plan

Training keeps on going. The test of the program will be what happens in 2 weeks when I submit my program data and end of block questionnaire back to the AI Overlords for analysis. Then it’ll spit out a new block leading into next year.

Gonna still do @losthog virtual powerlifting meet maybe not to 110% full max. At least to get some numbers with the new equipment for my program going forward. First week of Jan 2019 I think it was might aim for the end of that week to recover from New Years celebrations. So gives me about six weeks dunno If I can get much stronger in that time but meh.

Gives me about 5-6 months to my first real meet has been moved to mid next year giving me another three months to work with.

Current plans for weight loss can be even more conservative + slower putting me within comfy distance of my weight class with a 24hr weigh in. Not gonna go for any crazy weight loss strategies even with a 24hr weigh in.

Gym nemesis is likely gonna try for a hard cut and other weight loss methods e.g. water cut closer to comp which might backfire on him.

Plenty of time to squeeze in a comp prep too with the extra three months but gotta get stronger instead of getting at my gym nemesis before he is able to build back to full strength.

Knee wraps less important now but will keep practicing. Using a belt on the deadlift still work in progress.

Calf gains lol… more like genetics

Squats with a pause halfway down… tbh I’m not entirely sure. I think it drills you to not slow down into the hole because some guys do that and make things harder but not getting a good bounce.

That’s not so much a problem for me lol but another thing it does I think is teach me to be in a good position. On the half way down the back angle and balance and everything should be a mirror of on the way up. I usually fail on the way up out of hole so I guess it helps me be better in that spot
