Guaifenesin in my Ephedrine

Following the advice I read in a previous T-mag issue, I went looking for some pure ephedrine HCL instead of a pill containing ephedrine from a ma huang extract. The only one I could find so far has 25 mg eph HCL, but it also has 200 mg guaifenesin. I did some research and found out that guaifenesin helps loosen mucus in the lungs and is also being used to treat fibromyalgia. A few sources claim that the FDA mandated the addition of this compound to all pills containing ephedrine because it helps prevent bathtub chemists from making speed-like drugs from pure ephedrine HCL. Does anyone know if a normal, healthy person would experience any negative side effects from taking 400-600 mg of guaifenesin/day? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to obtain pure ephedrine HCL with nothing else added?

I really doubt you could get it. I’m a chemist. I remember when I was in college, I knew a guy who obtained all the components to make a drug, except pharmeucetical-grade pure ephedrine HCL. I remember him telling me that “they” don’t sell pure ephedrine HCL. I could easily order it through the company I work for, but I’d have to be a FUCKING MORON to try it. The only other possiblity that I could think of would be to try the internet. Also, I have no idea if there are any legal implications either.

actually you can get pure eph HCl up here in canada. no fear in that since the only diff is in the exporant guafenisin. you mentioned you found writings on how it helps fibromyalgia. does it say what it can do for them?

There is a place in Canada that sell ephedrine HCl only tablets. It might be a problem getting it into the country though.
