GTA San Andreas for XBox

After hearing Prof. X talking this one up so much for PS2, VERY happy to see Rockstar Games is bringing this sucker to XBox in June…

Good times. Anyone else as excited as me?

I don’t think the PS2 is going to be out until next year. Why is the X-Box two being unveiled almost a year ahead of schedule?

As far as GTA, I doubt I am anywhere near half way done beating this game and I have had it since Christmas. Granted I don’t sit and play video games all day everyday, but I do spend a good couple of hours on the weekends. Any game that even keeps my interest half that long is worth the 50 bucks. There are very few games I can say the same about.

One thing though…don’t use the cheat codes. Yes, it is fun to be able to fly and make cars pop out of thin air but it takes away the realness of it.

Whew, Prof - you confuse the shit out of me when mix your games like that. I don’t know why they would do something like this - unless it’s a marketing ploy to undermine the PS3 - if Sony ever releases it.

Well, you knew what I meant. It just seemed like last year, both were waiting until 2006. I guess the first one to the market wins. I would assume that most people either have one game system or the other instead of both. Are the graphics really that much better on an X-box?

Rumor has it - and like I said I missed the unveiling - that the graphics card on the X2 is 512mg - which is twice as fast as the fastest graphics card on the market right now. So it should have some screaming graphics. I think it is geared to accomodate the new generation high-def/high res TVs.

Here’s a photo of the X-box2

XBOX 2 will be out by Christmas '05. They moved it way up.

I probably won’t buy the XBox2 unless it can be modded… I like having my modded XBox 1 too much to get something that doesn’t have that level of flexibility.

I’m sorry, I lost my Geek to English dictionary last week on my way to a strip club. Could you please translate?

PS, I’m a geek on some levels too, but I have no idea what you are talking about.

I recently took T-bone Sanchez out of the game at the docks in San Fiero. That’s about as far as I am into it. I’ve had it about as long as you ProfX. I agree, this game is well worth the 50 bones. I’ve never used a cheat code on it either. It’s not as fun, or a challenge.

Sure. For the original XBox, there are mod-chips you can install (third party). These chips allow you to: a) install copied/downloaded games b) install a media center on your xbox… you can play movies, downloaded tv shows, mp3s, etc c) install a MUCH larger hard drive to store more games d) install emulators so that you have a full arcade box… I have Nintendo, SNES, genesis, neo-geo etc games all on my xbox.

A lot of people crack open their XBoxes and make modifications to the hardware, from larger hard drives to improved or even overclocked processors. Microsoft HAAAAATES this and if you have a modded XBox, you can’t use XBox Live. (I could go off on a long, rambling side discussion as to why I think it’s total BS since you own the f-ing system… and you can mod your PC, but not your XBox???). But from a XBox Live perspective, they want to keep a level playing field which doesn’t always exist for PC games played on-line. That part I can see.

Me, I am fine with it the way it is, love playing on XBox Live (as rainjack is well aware), and I am looking forward to the XBox 360 (not sure if that is the official name or not). But even the regular XBox vs. PS2 has a greater capacity to handle graphics, hence why the GTA games look a little better on XBox. But with the 3.2 mhz processor and 512 MB video card in the XBox 360… that is gonna be one bad mama jama.

  1. I love my X-Box

  2. Halo 2 is a bitch, it’s true.

  3. I’m looking forward to GTA San Andreas, definitely.

  4. I have only three x-box games, that I’ve purchased, they are from EA Sports.

NCAA Football 2005
NASCAR 2005
MLB 2005

Great Graphics, Great fun.

I wonder how much the new X-box will cost?

Cheat codes completely baffle me. I mean, maybe if I have finished the game and I am going back to sort of screw around, I can see it. But so many people use them to “beat” the game, which is just a punk cop out.

Modded= Modifyable, he wants to be able to mod his xbox easily. By that, he means change parts like 3d cards and stuff.

Umm, can you tell by my 1,000,001 posts on this thread already that I am pretty excited about the new XBox??? Yeah, thought so. There is a whole story on XBox 360 in the June edition of the Official XBox Magazine. I guess one of the things (as rainjack mentioned) is support for all HD formats, 480, 720 and 1080, as being standard for EVERY game developed for the new system. Right now, it’s only some and those are mostly for 480.

This might be the one to bump me into getting that HDTV I have been drooling over.

In case you wanted to see it in depth.

Dude - I LOVE my NASCAR 2005!! I don’t have the guts to try NCAA 2005 on x-box live, yet. I hear it’s vicous.

I also heard that it was vicious.
