Grip on Buffalo Bar

I’m thinking of buying the New York Barbell version of the buffalo bar for my home gym. I own a power rack and not a monolift making it necessary to use somewhat of a narrow grip on the bar due to the location of the hooks. For those that own the buffalo bar, do you feel that taking a narrow grip defeats the purpose of owning such a bar?

It wouldn’t defeat the purpose of the bar, it’ll still change the center of gravity, but it may be uncomfortable haha.

I’m not looking to go too narrow, just wide enough so that my hands don’t get caught on the J-Hooks when racking the weight.

Yeah this can be annoying. My friend unracks the bar, then moves his hands all the way out, squats, and moves his hands back in to rack it, or even just takes his hands off at the last second and leans the bar into the hooks. Koklaev does something similar when he has to I believe.
