That is a TON better. Awesome start on fixing your form.

There’s only really two things I would change, one may not actually be needed (hard to tell with the camera angle):

A) The one that may not be needed is start with your knees just a little bit wider. It looks like they may be buckled in just a little at the start, putting too much of the stress on your tendons. A shot from the front would be helpful to see if this is actually happening.

Awesome start DW - best of luck in your continued efforts.

Diesel, a definite improvement in form, nice going. I also noticed the same thing about your knees. Your knees are quite a bit more narrow than your foot position.

i fucken love this. he’s been keeping a log on a rather good PL/strongman forum and has really cleaned up his form. i thought he would never change, and by ‘never’ i mean NEVER.

looks like i’m wrong and i’m glad. let’s hope Max keeps it up.
He should improve his form pretty quickly and realize his potential. Especially now that Jesse Marunde has offered to help him train. I have always enjoyed laughing at the ridiculous videos, but I know where the guy is coming from. When you are pushing yourself past the limit it is easy to lose form on stuff, and if a person is a beginner they often fail to realize that all of the secondary work done in the gym is strengthen the whole body so you don’t lose form on max attempts. He’ll get it eventually. Remember the guy is only 155, so the poundages might not seem very heavy to some of you but they are to someone of that size.

To the guy that said taking third in a strongman competition is losing, have you ever competed in strongman? Is a bronze medal in the olympics losing? Also, in strongman he took third in the overall placing, that doesn’t mean he didn’t take first place in one or more of the individual events. I think you are a chump for saying something like that.

Sensless

DW,

Man that 370 was great. I mean really satisfying to see. Great form. I second buffalo’s thoughts, but to me it looks good, especially with the legs almsot touching together.

I seriously hope you take Marunde up on his offer to train you. That is an opportunity you might only get once.

Good luck dude.

EDIT: I’m glad to see that you’ve started improving your form. I don’t feel bad for your spine anymore.

Man, if anybody else on the planet told me they took 3rd in a Strongman comp, I’d congratulate them. I just can’t stand DW’s ego.

If that makes me a chump, I’ll gladly represent that.

So simply because you don’t like a guy via his internet ego his results in competition no longer hold any merit? I understand you may have a desire to discredit his accomplishment but I think that by doing so is indeed labeling yourself as a chump. Wear that scarlet letter with pride if you will.

I guess I’m a loser too because I took second place in the first strongman competition I competed at. Though I did take first place in three of the five events (log press, axle deadlift, stones) in the strongman competition and only missed first overall by 1 point. But at the end of the day, I’m just a loser. Thanks for the motivation, Mr. Chump.

With love,

Sensless

Hey! I’m a bigger loser. I didn’t win any events and took 5th out of 7. Yeah! I suck! But at least I can eat meat.

Mmm…Steak,

I don’t want to ruffle any feathers with the mods, but yall should go to the bodybuildingdungeon site and check out the vid section. They have a montage called lifting gone bad[or something] where DW is the star attraction.
It is definately worth the time.

give the link!

oh and yeah better in your form DW on the last vid… but i noticed the knee thing too… just a bit wider… good luck wid ya!

Too cool, glad this thread is alive!

I wasted 2 hours earlier today, as I got linked back to T-Nation and saw the first thread.

Then, I see this one has popped back up! Right on! Possibly a combination of the funniest/most irritating things on the face of the planet.

With that said, good job on improving your form. I can’t wait to see what else pops up.

Monopoly

It’s bodybuildingdungeon.com click on the vids section then click on weightlifting gone bad. It’s well worth it.

Yes, I tied for 3rd place and there were only four competitors in the Novice Lightweight division, including me. But you know what? It was my first time ever competing in a strongman show, my first time ever touching a heavy tire and my first time doing the keg carry or any exercise/lift with kegs.

I was also competing with guys who outweighed me by ~20lbs (175lb limit).

Congrats on working on trying to improve your form and for competing you will be glad you did in the long run and the best wishes to you…hopefully though in the years to come when youre technique is vastly improved and your lifts go up you can look back on the vids and get the same laugh we do

Looks like Max needs to work on his log press.
gojira wrote:

I’m sure he agrees that he needs to work on it, so do I (it’s a weak point of mine as well), but I’d like to point out that the log used in the show is arguably the most difficult log to clean that’s ever been produced.

It’s a Mastiff 8" log that weighs 170 unloaded. I know a lot of nationals- level heavyweights who hate the thing. If you haven’t played with an 8" log before and then have to deal with this thing, it’s just not going to be pretty no matter how you slice it. There’s always 4 or 5 lightweights who just can’t clean it because they haven’t had the practice - there’s a pretty particular technique lighter guys have to use they’re ususally not aware of.

Yeah, that was a tough mofo. I’m training my clean and press with primarily an 8" log and 2" thickbar, so hopefully I will do better with that event in April.
