Flex only appeared ‘small’ because he had to stand next to guys with larger structures like Dorian, Ronnie, even Levrone. A frame can only hold so much muscle. So even when Flex was at his largest (and he did get pretty damn big), he ended up playing the Synthol game in attempt to match Ronnie, who was just larger overall.

…which proves the point that as time goes onward, guys who were considered “UNNATURAL FREAKS WHO NO ONE WANTS TO LOOK LIKE” eventually get accepted due to desensitization.
I remember seeing Flex on American Muscle once and they just showed him walking down the streets in LA and the people walking passed him could not believe what they were looking at.
To now hear that is completely accepted is hilarious.
It means in 50 years, people will be claiming they wished bodybuilders could go back to being as “aesthetic” as Ronnie.
The reality is, many of us right here would draw a crowd around us if we walked down the street in the year 1961…whereas we may just get the odd stare now.
I think that this thread seriously needs a dose of Nasser. This man had one of the greatest physiques ever, and the fact that he never had an Olympia title is mind boggling to me.
Take a look at the 1997 Olympia and tell me He was not shafted
No offense, but Nasser was nowhere near even Cormier when it comes to shape and proportion. He had mass…but deserved an Olympia? That’s the first time I ever heard that.

Nasser’s big, but I’d have put my money on Levrone that night.

Thinking about this thread, I asked two random colleagues (aged in their 30’s) today to name a current professional bodybuilder.
Nothing.
Said name any body builder.
“Arnold” and “Arnold Swartzennegger”
Name another:
“The Hulk” and “Lou Ferrigno”.
LOL.[/quote]
If bodybuilding was projected onto the masses of the population and marketed like most other sports, youd get people from the polictically correct crowd, and so called goverment health experts interfering. Saying theyre portraying a bad, and unhealthy message to children. Condemning steriods, hgh, and any other form of bb supps, making ill advised remarks.
For me its better this way, those who are genuinly interested get what they want, without the need to condone body building to the everyday person.
Take a look at the below image of former english glamour model Jodie Marsh. For the average person they refuse to believe she could have transformed her physique naturally and must be on “tonnes of roids”.
At their biggest…what do people think to the below rank??
Markus Ruhl
Jay Cutler
Joel Stubbs
Ronnie
Please feel free to provide alternatives or even correct.
Id never rated Markus Ruhl until I saw the 2001 video posted. And didnt know of Joel Stubbs till recently (what an upper body).
Basically with all these videos, I feel like a little kid. Im excited and want to see who is the BIGGEST of the BIGGEST. Goes beyond thw WOW factor, to the “OMG he looks like he eats children”

I think everything related to Nasser and Nasser himself is pure and utter fail. I started thinking of him this way after he wrote that infamous article where he talked and made up shit about Greg Kovacs, who was his friend at the time.
I wouldn’t say Nasser deserved an Olympia, just that he looked amazing from the front and comparatively weak from the back. I dig his proportions and size, but I don’t know enough about this stuff to say he was better or worse than…
I still say Markus Ruhl 2002 NOC was the greatest showing of all time though, that’s my uneducated opinion and I’m sticking to it

Yah, he talked a lot of shit about Palumbo and Greg Kovacs. After reading that article I’ve always thought he was a douche bag.
greatest physique/most aesthetic, no doubt Flex Wheeler is the first bodybuilder that comes to mind. As for Mr. Olympia, I’d have to go with Lee Haney. Pretty much after that, all of the Mr. O’s except Heath and Dexter (and Ronnie sometimes) had the prego stomach look IMO. Anywayz, I’m sure there will be a few feathers ruffled… no offense to you fave bb’ers
I would have to go with Ronnie. Theres more to it than his physique (which is impressive on its own, blows my mind away every time he does a rear lats spread), his personality in the gy m too, always so moltivating
