No he is not. Its just nice thought that words don’t effect people’s emotions. WORDS are everything. Its why you can read a book and get caught up into the story. Its also why He placed the word “Fucking” into his sentence to drive his point home. To emote an emoiton of seriousness.
Trust me we all have things that if someone said it to our face would generate an emotion, now if we act on it or show it on our face is another issue. But we all are subject to some words.
Your with your Mother and someone starts saying things about her to your face? Very few would laugh. You may not react but it would cause an emotion.

The word has been used in scientific publications up the 80’s at least as well as in dictionaries. Blacks themselves used to call themselves that back during the segregation days. Did they hate themselves? You can of course say that they got that from whites but they got the entire english language from whites, as well as dutch, portuguese, spanish or whatever language whites have taught them and they have since adopted as solid. Where does one draw the line?
The word and its variations in various european languages are old and politically neutral, purely descriptive. Unfortunately it’s been stigmatized in just about every other language too.
It all seems like a historical case of liberals trying to grow the collective chip on the black shoulder by drawing the worst comparisons and scenarios available and indoctrinating the blacks with them.
I’m from Queens and EVERY RACE here has its share of people using the N word. That is, my whole teenage and adult life, I’ve seen Asians, Hispanics, Whites, Jews, Indians, East Asians, and whatever other kind of people exist here calling Blacks and EACH OTHER and EVERYONE ELSE niggers. Most Whites use the term, even if they’re not inherently malicious or racist, to describe a neighborhood or place, as in, “It’s all niggers there.” In the same regard, they might refer to a place like Main Street in Flushing like, “It’s all gooks there.”
I work in Bushwick, Brooklyn, which is mostly (I’d say 85%) Puerto Rican, with the rest being mostly Black, or “Black Latino” (eg, Blacks who speak Spanish, or have some Black and Carribean Indian and Spanish admixture, like Dominicans and some Cubans and Puerto Ricans). So before I told people I’m going to work in that neighborhood (which I actually LIKE), the responses were, as you know, things like, “It’s all niggers there,” and, “It’s all spics there,” and, “You OK with that?”
I’m not sure what the OP’s point is, but people sure are using the word as freely as they want to, whether its in dislike or hate or just HARMLESS SLANG.
I don’t use the word, nor do I like hearing it, because although I might not be the MOST well mannered guy in the world, it gives me a creepy, unclassy feeling.
I’ve worked with many Blacks, and now I work with NEARLY ALL Blacks, and they don’t use this word and would be VERY offended by it, EVEN in casual talk amongst Blacks with each other.

Whats my point? In my original post I said it doesnt make things feel welcoming. Thats very nearly the same thing as saying it “gives me a creepy, unclassy feeling”. My point is if people get offended by it why the hell is it used so often. Thats it.

If an ethnic group want to us the (derogatory) bastardization of a word to address each other thats their choice.
If one of your same race friends calls you a Honky (for example if your ‘white’) I doubt you would be as (if at all) offended as you would be if an African American said it to you (after all they shouldn’t call you a Honky and you shouldn’t call them a nigger)
Just seems to be the way things are, like Chris Rock said, fat people can make fun of each other or skinny people, but skinny people cant make fun of fat people etc etc etc

He has a point. Anyway, the N-word is basically a synonym for ‘black’ just like ‘honkey’ is a synonym for ‘white’. The difference is that the N-word was originally purely descriptive and does not imply inferiority. The H-word on the other hand started as a racist word and continues to be a racist word, yet the former is censored but not the latter. Refraining from using the N-word now is good etiquette because of the bad associations it brings up in people’s minds but for that you can probably at least partially thank liberals who more than likely overblew its history.
