Hold on, people are really calling out a guy for claiming a 500 squat as if it couldn’t be legit? You guys need to work out at stronger gyms…I hit 500 drug free within a year of training at 6’5 275 pounds…
Fuck that, people just need to get stronger. Theres a handful of relatively strong guys at my gym and every time I see them squat they work up to a couple of sets of 315 and then call it, week after week. So much for progressing.

x2
I dont expect a video because most people never post vids of their lift claims… but I still dont believe it.

275 is slightly heavier than 200, just a lil’ bit…

guys can be built for different lifts. some guys have longer legs, other have longer torso’s or shorter arms… they all mean that you’ll be better suited for a certain lift.
you said you were 6’5 @ 275. Thats 3.57lbs per Inch of height. OP is 6’1 @ 205. thats 2.8lbs per inch. In order for you guys to be equal height to weight ratios he’d have to weigh 260lbs. A 500lb squat would be a lot more believable at that weight.
75lbs of body weight is a much bigger discrepancy than a 4 inch height difference
I admire your math–its cute and all…but its not really that simple to compare guys at different heights and weights…organs, skin, etc…things like that don’t exactly contribute much to your total…
But i’m gonna go ahead and bail out of this discussion again…it seems I made the mistake of posting into another GAL thread that is taking a turn for the ridiculous…par for the course…

I understand all of that(about organs ect.) and I appreciate your attempt at patronizing me, but wouldnt you agree that a 75lb weight difference is a lot bigger discrepancy than a 4 inch height difference when it comes to lifting?
I dont see what is ridiculous about that?

Your condescending tone is cute, jump into a thread, brag about a lift you did, get out under the guise that entire forum is filled with silly little people.

Was anyone talking to you?
Holy shit, with detective skills like yours, why are you wasting all your talents posting anonymously on the internet? You could be out solving real mysteries…doing some real sleuthing…perhaps you can find Jimmy Hoffra? Or the Lindbergh baby?

Probably…but its not like I am sitting at the cusp of height/weight requirements of 500 pound squatters either, right?..I’m not thing special…there is probably a wide berth in between the two that would enable one to hit the quarter ton milestone…
But that’s not really the point of this thread is it? I jumped in with my comment because, yet again, there seems to be an overabundance of people on a weightlifting site that bears the moniker “intelligent and relentless pursuit of muscle” that just don’t seem to know that many strong/muscular people…
A 500 squat really is nothing extraordinary, so I’m not sure why a thread that started out as HEY THESE IDIOTS ARE SO WEAK THEY THINK THAT “I” TAKE STEROIDS turns into YOUR HEIGHT/WEIGHT RATIO DOESNT SUPPORT THE HYPOTHESIS THAT YOU CAN SQUAT 500 POUNDS AND I WILL REQUIRE DATA TO THE CONTRARY TO REEVALUATE MY CONCLUSION…
That, my friend, is what I consider ridiculous…and again, I’m quickly realizing it is just par for the course for these GAL discussions…I really wish I had the willpower to not click on interesting looking topics on the homepage…

cooooooooooooooooooome on VT… no one actually said that^^ ![]()
Either way you look at it, a legit 500lb squat by a 205lb person is damn good. That is in no way a standard/beginner/pedestrian/normal lift.
You’re lucky you have a mustache…
I’m not saying its not a good lift…my OP was originally directed at all these people in here trying to say that 500 is some pie in the sky dream that can’t be reached…multiple guys weighed in saying they don’t know anyone that can squat 500, and I thought that was…odd…considering what we claim to do here…
My point (in a thinly veiled brag) was that i hit that milestone with less than a year of training…sure I busted my ass during that year, but like I said before, I’m nothing special…its just hard for me to comprehend that there are so many people on this site that just dont know that many people that give a shit about being big and strong…
While it’s definitely not a lift you see very often in public rec centers, a 500 lb squat is really not that impressive of a lift.
Hahaha I knew that mustache would come in handy some day :{ (<—that’s my mustache face)
I know what you’re saying and I see your point.
I still think a legit 2.5x BW squat is a big deal.

LOL
VT - you can throw out all of the thinly veiled brags you want, type condescendingly to all of the doubters, claim it’s not that impressive of a lift and all that jazz.
This poster will not show that he can squat 500 pounds because he can’t squat 500 pounds. That’s all anyone here is getting at. E-lifts FTL.

Ct. Rockula shoulder presses Ford Focuses. I’ve witnessed it.[/quote]
To be fair, greg, the back seats were taken out and it was dry of any fluids.

If I knew strong/muscular people IRL why would I be using a site? lol
