Good Snack Food to Get Big?

I’m the type of person that could eat all day and not get too much fat. But now that i’m on JB’s massive eating diet I find myself eating meals that are simple and lack extra’s. During non meal times i am not eating at all, because i don’t want to eat carbs, fat and protein.

Anyways, i’m a little frusterated.

If i could, i would eat peanut butter, cheese, and nuts, and anything else all the time. But either those foods have over 10 grams of carbs, or have a lot of fat.

Whats a good snack food one can eat over and over that is well geared towards getting big but not fat?

Is peanut butter OK? Is eating cheese that has equal fat and protein ok? What else?

HELP!!!
I’m frusterated…

If you’re trying to add mass, eat it!! Especially if you say you typically don’t add fat easily as I was the same way.

I did the same thing - was concerned with WHAT I was eating when trying to bulk and I had a tough time getting enough Kcals. I still keep my food log and have most of my meals planned out, but if I want 3 or 4 chicken sandwiches from McDonalds or a spoonful of nautral PB, I’m going to eat it!

Buy a few bags of mixed nuts and beef jerky for throughout the day.

Hope this helps and don’t get frustrated…Use your grape and eat.

So you’re a hard gainer but you are worried about eating more than 10 grams of carbs or fat? Ugh…

I always eat natural peanut butter, it’s great for packing on the calories.

Cottage cheese is great for a snack too.

Bef jerky. Just watch the sodium. Drink lots of extra water

Let me start by saying that contrary to what lots of people on this site think, you can gain muscle without gaining fat. However it is a much slower process and requires a lot of time and effort to eat a surplus of totally clean foods. I would say that approach would be for a fitness model or someone that needs to be pretty close to competition ready at a short notice.

Also, people have been bodybuilding long before JB and his Massive Eating ideas were published. There are many different ways to skin a cat(all you need are a sharp knife and a strong stomach)!

If you are trying to gain weight I think you would be best off to dedicate yourself to it and expect and accept that you will gain some fat. Yes, eat some natural peanut butter, even slop it on a whole grain bagel! Mixed nuts should always be a part of your diet, whether bulking or cutting. Cheese is iffy for some people, being a dairy product and having sat.fats. Experiment a little and see what methods of eating and kinds of food work for you. JB didn’t come up with Massive Eating without plenty of trial and error!

Snack away or eat more at your feedings!

I do massive eating and I use peanut butter as a snack, some of the carbs come from fiber so I’m thinking it’s ok…of course I’ve been known to be dead wrong most of the time…

I am surprised that you are hungry enough to eat between meals as JB usually recommends eating every 2-3 hours. Why do you need to snack?

This is what i would do

Mixed nuts are good, but be careful, they are calorie dense and it is easy to eat too many because they don’t fill you up much.

Grow! shakes with skim or 1% milk

fruit: pears, apples, oranges, etc

cheese seems good, but many people find that they put on fat or appear puffy when consuming too much dairy

beef jerky is a good source of protein wiht little fat and carbs, but the kind you buy will often have a lot of sodium

cans of tuna: lots of protein with almost no fat or carbs

I’m sure other have some good ideas too. Good luck.

almonds, walnuts, and pecans for awesome fats and fiber. my protein is usually shakes and soon also grow bars. If i needed carbs i would go with honey. laters pk

I’m just going to kind of echo what has allready been said in this thread.

NATURAL Peanut Butter(the other stuff contains lots of other crap, like trans fatty acids) on some whole wheat toast is a pretty awesome snack. Don’t be afraid of the carbs and fat. I always have a few cans of almonds around, they are the superior nut imo, also this is kind of what protein supplements are for imo, between meals, when you need something quick.

Don’t let Prof. X see this thread. He’s going to go apeshit

Great foods! I always throw some mixed nut meal in my shakes.

It is possible and CAN be done, but this is very subjective and not possible for everyone.

The metabolism is a very cagey animal…

On the run? Need a snack? Eat a big ass sausage.

They may stink up the area, but you get all the protein you need.

But yah, nuts work well too.

You’re bulking, and, you seem to have no issue with fat, so…

Worry less about carbs (just don’t overdo sugar, especially artificial sugars like high fructose corn syrup) and just eat.

You never should be hungry while bulking.

Now, quick, good snacks? Nuts, jerky (if you make your own or find some without MSG, soy, and other crap in it), peanut butter, milk, cheese sticks… I’ve even seen some dried cheese snacks that are high in protein but low carb. You could always toss in bowls of whole grain cereals(I like Puffed Kashi, and Uncle Sam myself). Find some of those flavoured oils (flax that tastes like cinnamon for example), and take extra hits of those between meals.

You don’t want to eat too much garbage, but, in your situation, I think your mindset should be “eat first, ask questions later”. Sure, try to make your diet as nutritious as possible, and get plenty of core foods(meat, fruit, veggies, nuts) but if you have a craving, or are in a situation where there’s nothing available except a KFC for protein, go ahead and see how things go. You can fine tune with the help of articles and advice here, but, while you’re doing so, don’t avoid that stack of pancakes while trying to ponder the perfect between meal snack.

People have already said what I am going to say:

Trail mix (the mix with M&Ms, raisins, peanuts) and Beef Jerky.

And lots of water
