Good Protein in Japan?

I know this is targeted at a pretty small T-Nation population, but here goes.

I’ve been in Japan for the past several years, and will be here for the foreseeable future. My current Biotest purchases (Flameout, Superfood, Z-12, Rez-V) already set me back a bit, so I’m not sure I wanna add a few tubs o’ protein to that list. (I usually get hit w/ about $30 per order in import taxes as it is). So anyway, here are my questions.

  1. Can anyone offer some insight on placing large-ish orders from Japan? So far my orders have run about $200-$250 at a time, and the shipping rate has always been the same ($70). I’m sure there is a limit as to how much one can import without any issues, but I’m not sure what that limit is. To avoid any problems my current strategy is to not exceed a two-month supply on anything (I found out the hard way this is the limit for contact lenses).

  2. Anyone know of a good protein supplement available in Japan? I’m currently using Kentai’s 100% CFM ``super delicious type’’ (it’s actually pretty good). Searching mostly turns up the name brands (DNS, Kentai, SAVAS, etc.) and some sketchy stuff, but I get the feeling there are some good supps out there.

Any info/advice would be much appreciated. (Cortes, you still over here?)

To the OP,

I sent you a PM if you’d like to check it.

You could always do this:

For you japanese speakers, does he say what the clear solution he puts in the blender is?

Hey therajraj,

The clear liquid in the large bottle is Sweet N Low, then he adds vanilla essence. The thing is, he says the chicken is “nama furozen sasami”, which is RAW frozen chicken. I guess salmonella hasn’t quite made it here yet

When he’s making his egg white “drink” he says he keeps the yolks and feeds them to the “starving crows and animals” in his neighbourhood when he has some free time. He also puts the Sweet N Low in the eggs, grabs the vanilla essence and then says “Oh, I’m going to use vanilla in my protein drink, so I think I’ll go for almond essence this time” then changes to almond essence.

IIRC he made that wgg white drink at 6:30 AM. In the next scene, he says “after my drink I had a sleep, and now it’s 1:30 (PM), time for a protein drink before taking the dogs out for a walk” (or something like that - I’m just going by memory). Then he says “After I come back I’m going to make another strawberry-flavoured chicken protein drink”. He says you can’t tell it’s chicken you’re drinking.

You may notice he says “saiko” after each drink, which basically means “awesome”.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for that! I was really curious as to what he was saying.

Not sure if you knew, but the bodybuilder in the video actually died from dehydration and electrolyte imbalance while preparing for a contest.

I noticed the comments regarding his death on Youtube. TBH, I’d never heard of him before. Seemed like a pretty decent guy from his vid.
