Pfff. He was already pretty lean in the first pic compared to the others. Plus he’s tanned in the second. So is it possible to put on a few pounds of muscle in 73 days(He’s not exactly a 250 monster)…totally possibly. The critics are A) jealous and/or B) don’t know shit about bodybuilding and training in general.
I’ve heard the 0.5lb per week limit before too, probably from an article on t nation, I’ll try and find it

This is the biggest bullshit out there. There are plenty counter examples on this site alone. In a 5 week period between November and December I gained 8 lbs of body weight and all my lifts went up. At least 5 of those lbs were pure muscle. So at the very least I’ve doubled the limit.
With all the different body types and genetic configurations out there, how could they possibly come up with such a specific limit for every human being on the planet?

Dublin as well. Train in Raw beside Portobello bridge. Used to train in Pinnacle until it was (unfortunately) closed down.

I clearly recall Christian Thibaudeau stating that 0.5lb of muscle per week was a kind of optimal growth rate for a natural trainee; BUT he said also that 0.5lb of MUSCLE FIBER per week means actually more on the scale (think of glycogen and water stores in muscle cells).

I’ve seen guys like Dante and Christian Thibs go into detail about muscle accumulation coming in blasts and it never being perfectly consistent from month to month no matter how spot on diet and training. So you could go 2-3 months barely gaing much then a month after that put on 8-10 lbs real fast.

good point cos he’s actually 185 at the moment. . 9% bodyfat. .

If you truely believe that you will never achieve anything, give up, delete your account here and dont come back…
or,
do us a favor, stop reading the articles here, eat smart (you already know everything you need to know) lift heavy with enough intensity to induce vomiting for 3 years, then come back…
you will be doing both the community and yourself a big favor…

Please take this stupid shit back to your congregation of retards on Facebook.
Who are these roid police and why do they care? The guy looks awesome and obviously worked way harder then anyone who commented. Probably the biggest misconception about steroids, aside from the fact that they will turn you into a Wolverine like killing machine right before they kill you, is that people who take them are “cheating”, when they are more dedicated to their bodies then whatever procrastinating fat terd who has the balls to pass judgement on them via some internet comment section. Its not like the guy started from ground zero in his competition training, his Day 1 is more then a good start.

And how does he precisely measure water, muscle fiber, glycogen and all these other variables. If you can scientifically prove this, how does he come up with such a precise #? Is he taking muscle biopsies before and after training? Would that even tell you?
And how can he say .5lb is optimal for every human out there when you consider people have different muscle density and different amounts of the various types of muscle fibers. Most of us know guys that are natural and just put on muscle very fast. I know for a fact they’re putting on more than 2 lbs a month.

Yes I’ve read and experienced this in my short lifting career. And I’m sure my gains weren’t optimal. But I know there’s alot of guys out there that have put more than 26 lbs on in their 1st year. So even when you average out the bursts they still come out to more than .5 inches a week. And I realize that people generally make their best gains in their first year of training hard but when do you draw the line in your training career where you accept you’ll only gain .5 lbs a year?
Shit Poliquin could get you 28 lbs of muscle in that month ![]()
That is absolutely possible.
Before:
Carb-depleted? At least not fully pumped muscle bellies.
Not tanned.
Bad lighting.
After:
Carbed up with full looking muscle bellies.
Tanned.
Very good lighting.
Lost some fat and added some muscle.
This is not a crazy transformation at all. Just a very disciplined person
following a good diet and exercise plan.
Did he actually gain any muscle? A little yes and mostly it just looks more
dry.
funmetal

I’m always surprised that people think a half pound of muscle per week is somehow a small amount. Since when is 100 pounds of muscle in 4 years a small amount? How rare is it to even know people at the gym who have the work ethic and persistence to have gained 100 pounds of muscle even in 10 years?

I don’t think anyone on here posted about a weekly .5lb muscle gain every single week for 4 years straight (never mind 10). In the context of the original topic posted, the time frame is little less than 3 months.

where did I say I believed it, I said I had read it.
and quite frankly, at the moment I gain about 0.5lb per week of weight, and if I substain this over a few years then I will be satisfied and contrary to your opinion, I will have achieved something, that is something for me to determine based on my own goals
I agree with Prof X that people under estimate the genetic potential of a few lucky individuals. But the guy in question does not look like he has great genetics or took any kind of drug. He looks like an athletic dude that has peaked (prepared for a BB contest). I have competed in and judged NPC shows and would have to say that he looks athletic but not like a BB in my opinion. I am not knocking the guyâ??s effort or physique but his before and after pics only show us his front torso and I just donâ??t see the huge muscle gains. Yes that is possible without drugs.
