Good Barbells

Does anyone know of a good barbell would be? (can be loaded with 1000 pounds) Since I am likely going to need a knew one by december/next spring. It would be preferred if it was an olympic barbell, but either way is fine if you know of a good one/where I can find it.

If your buying it for your home gym, I would just recommend buying an Olympic barbell from someone off Craigslist. You can easily find someone that has a barbell plus around 300lbs of weight for $100-150. Looking for a bar that can hold 1000lbs will cost you hundreds, if not up to $1000, and since your profile says you have been lifting for around a year, I don’t think that should be priority for you right now. Any Olympic bar will work good enough for years to come.

I have 390 pounds (including the bar’s weight) and an olympic barbell (that should go up to 500). I was just simply asking in the long term. I found something that should do well for me when I need to get a more durable bar.

Yeah, pretty much everything you said is wrong. Never give advice again.

Buy this. I can hold well over 1,000 lbs. It’s under $400, too.

I have this bar. You will NEVER need another bar if you get this. I actually hate leaving my home gym because every bar sucks ass compared to this. Please do yourself a favor and get this youll save money in the end.

I’ve had 900+ on that with no problem.

Your second option is 210 plus 45 in shipping:

That is the one I have, holds more than enough for anything I would be using it for. If your actually using 1000+lbs on a bar the cost of the plates will overshadow the $100 bar upgrade. Technically both are rated for over 1000lb though.

I have the York Burgener & Rippetoe bar
It is rated at 205k psi strength and is 29 mm diameter, similar to IPF bar spec
The knurling is really good, and bare steel just feels right.

For the money you get a lot.

Jesup Gym sells a nice, cheap all-purpose bar. We’ve loaded it up for heavy squats and benches no problem. If you don’t want to splurge for a Texas, their 7’ olympic bar is $185 delivered.
