Ha! Glad to hear it. My bodyweight has finally stabilized at 215 with this carb backloading stuff, so now I can start incrementally upping fat and protein to see what the gaining “sweet spot” is for my body. 225 or bust. Or is it 225 and bust? I dunno.

Sucks skipping breakfast at first, but the leanness improvements and performance improvements are worth it. Plus now if I switch shirts for stones at the gym its not "oh there’s another strongman guy without a shirt on " it’s “how the hell are you so lean”… Or from the ladies “daaaaayyyyuuummmm”. /sovainbro.jpg.

If I remember right, you were cutting now? I thought I remember you doing something of a “hella bulk” as you called it. How did that go?

It’s super sweet and I’m really excited about having some actual gym stuff again to be able to work more accessory stuff. As for the push press, it was meh. I just wasn’t super motivated today. I need to eat before I train I guess again and just have Saturday be a diet breaker morning, because otherwise I lack the energy for all this strongman stuff. One shake over 3 hours of training just won’t cut it.

At any rate, things are looking up. Just got to keep on chuggin and doing my prehab stuff and I’ll be back to kicking ass in no time. As of now, back to a three day T/Th/Sa split for sure.

Lower Tuesday, Upper Thursday, Events Saturday. That simple. It works for me so I’m going back to it for now until I can swing being in the gym more days per week. I need to study today, but its gloomy and dark out so I’ll likely end up napping instead. Now I have to go catch up on everyone else’s logs.

Rough day today at the clinic. CI was sick and so I got put with another PT, who is super controlling and second guessed everything I said/did. I’m gonna have my DPT in May, get off my junk lady. And the director of some-bullshit-or-other came in today and started busting my balls about my treatments. He can tell me to adjust my language in notes for medicare all he wants, but a speech therapist has no place telling a physical therapist how to do his job. Can’t fix little dicks on power trips I suppose.

If I don’t get whiteboxed with this like I did for the Steve Pulcinella motivation vid that is… Kelly is a pretty brilliant physical therapist, and even if he works mostly with Crossfit athletes, you can’t deny that he must know what works if Pat Mendes and Donnie Thompson also seek him out for advice right?

Yeah I saw it finally. Apparently I am doing the Kentucky show now. No way in hell I can post anything with the HW weights, and they only have the heavies and the strongman fitness classes. Oh well. Long ass drive to KY it is. Now if I can manage to get a 250 log and a 150 circus DB before May, perhaps I won’t zero the first event haha

Some thoughts for a Saturday Morning:

  1. I’m leaving the May contest date open. I don’t know if I’ll do Kentucky or if I may try a smaller show. My goal is to try and qualify for nationals this year, and I won’t be able to do that if I’m zeroing events. That’s also no way for me to build strength either: by zeroing events, so the car deadlift is on the back burner for now until I build some more strength to do it properly.

  2. My diet. Backloading isn’t working well anymore. It felt awesome the first week or so, and since then I’ve just been sluggish and miserable all day. Workouts are done off sheer willpower, and I haven’t had what I’ve really felt like was a good day in a while. I think I’m going to tweak it some and eat when I’m hungry, but still keep most of my carbs until workout/PWO time periods.

The principles are sound I think. I understand why it should work, but my body just doesn’t seem to respond consistently to it for whatever reason. I tend to forget that I still haven’t changed bodies since my days of running, and it needs fuel to do awesome shit. I’m not fueling it enough I don’t think, hence the shitty sluggish feeling and constant need for caffeine. At any rate, a large wise dentist on this site once said: “Hamburgers.”

I think that’s good advice for my situation. I’ll be back after I pick up some heavy shit. I feel like playing with the circus DB today.
