OK seeing as everyone wants to talk about fighting…
KOing someone generally relies on you shaking their head fast enough that their skull rotates at a different speed to their brain. As such, having a strong neck that holds your head firm will prevent most KO attempts.
If you don’t believe me then look up fight KO’s online (there’s enough of them). Everytime a fighter goes down it’s because his head gets whipped around suddendly.
This is also the reason why two fighters can pound the hell out of each other for 45mins while the ref almost always takes a dive if he gets punched once by accident. It’s not that he has a weaker head necessarily - just that he hadn’t set it with his neck because he wasn’t expecting the hit.
Therefore: Big neck = hard to knock out.

I always feel sorry for those refs. Do they get paid enough? Do they get a bonus if they get knocked out?
