Golden Boy vs. Pretty Boy

Like someone else said, it would be great to see Mayweather get his ass kicked but it is not going to happen.

It’s too bad Mayweather keeps having to go up in weight to get good fights because eventually his lack of power and small frame will hurt him. He’s obviously a better fighter at this point than Oscar so I see him winning. I can’t believe people don’t like him because he’s a cocky, arrogant boxer. Most of them are.

Thanks for sharing, and greatly contributing to this thread with a well thought-out opinion.

He probably gets bored because the men never fuck each other in boxing. I guess stand-up isn’t his thing.[/quote]

This is what bitter boxers tell me when I submit them too…

True. Fortunately, if he beats De La Hoya, and moves back down to welterweight (assuming he doesn’t actually retire), Mosley is his mandatory.

“Submitting”? That’s why you guys are calling it these days? Funny, my wife calls it “love-making”, and her sister used to call it “making woopy”.

Crazy kids.

Insecure much? Close-minded much?

So what do you do when two boxers hug each other after a match? Rush home to watch lesbian porn and reassert your sexuality?

Ahahaah, 55 bucks? Fuck that. Internet stream it is.

you cant compare mma and boxing they are two differnt sports.i like them both. just because they have some things in common everyone wants to say one is better than the other

First of all, this is not the greatest fight in history at all.

The greatest fight already happened when ward beat gatti… okay not really but this is not the best fight in the history of the sport

I think its sad that boxing has lost so much interest to the ufc. I used to enjoy both, but the recent happenings in the ufc have made me question it. I will never get over that hour and a half dana white flop. I think the UFC is slowly leaning towards WWE in terms of showmanship and I’m not real into that.

About the fight though

I’m not a fan of either of the two. I think mayweather needs someone to shut him the fuck up.

If I had to pick one I’d say Mayweather will win the fight though.

Watching more of the previews on HBO this weekend just makes me more excited for the fight. After seeing them interviewed live on Saturday I just want Mayweather to be shut up. I am already a De La Hoya fan and I just want to see him beat Mayweather.

Mayweather’s mouth does increase interest in the fight though, I am sure alot of it is just an act…kind of like Tito’s big mouth. Hopefully De La Hoya will do to Mayweather what Liddell did to Tito.

55 Bucks! I miss the good old days when you could watch great fights like Duran and Leonard on ABC for free.

While I agree that Floyd has a big mouth, it’s great entertainment. I’ve been watching the HBO specials leading up to the fight and they’re great. I think Floyd will win, which like someone said, could potentially lead to Mosley V. Mayweather.

Now this would be an amazing fight. Although part of me wants to see the underdog and older Golden Boy come through. I think if it were anyone, but Oscar, I would want them to win.

I really want to see de la hoya win this fight but he doesnt have a chance in hell pretty boy floyd is just to quick. Floyd also will not mix it up much and has phenominal defense. I just hope its a good fight, if this fight stinks it up I dont see any other big name fights that anyones going to care about anytime soon.

This is a money fight for Oscar. Like previous posters have said before, Oscar hasn’t won against a decent fighter in four years. He got beat by all the top fighters he’s faced. Mayweather is undefeated. Oscar is obviously taking this fight for the money, much like Gatti’s “retirement” fight vs. Mayweather.

Both guys had/have no chance against the younger, faster, and more talented Mayweather, and this will probably be Oscar’s last fight as well. Time to cash in the check.

Of course, MMA from its inception was designed for entertainment, Boxing was designed to be a sport. Just once boxers realized you make more money entertaining people they decided to try to do everything outside of the ring to draw attention, but once the fight starts its an actual fight Between two highly conditioned to win fighters.

Boxing isn’t losing attention to MMA, if anything MMA has brought attention back to boxing. People used to watch one maybe two Tyson fights a year. With MMA getting big now people are watching Boxing more trying to figure out if they can beat the MMA fighters.

Perhaps you should inform the boxing promoters and TV providers who keep complaining about losing money and dropping boxing programming about this.

You can find at least a half dozen broadcasts on basic cable about MMA every single day, and other than Friday Night Fights on ESPN you won’t find anything about boxing. American professional sports are centered around television broadcasting, and the saturation of a product on that medium is generally a barometer it’s current sucess and popularity. Boxing is a long, long way behind MMA at this point in the game.

The only guy left who draws PPV buys comparable to what the UFC does is Oscar, once he’s gone things are going to look pretty sad.

My opnions are a reflection of boxing in the USA, I should mention. In Europe and some regeions of Asia the sport is still very popular.

I am sure money can change someones mind but Mayweather said in an interview a while ago this was his last fight. He said Mosley had earlier chances to fight him and chickened out so he could care less to fight him now. But like I said, I am sure money may change his mind.

Maybe I am in denial…I still think De La Hoya has a chance.
