Going to Start Working Out Legs

Yes, I do get your intentions. But those people that AREN’T educated, which are quite common, can be easily confused when things aren’t made clear. We can let this die now lol.
Well said.

I don’t get how you guys can do legs so often. I train legs on Monday, and they are still wrecked on Friday, starting to get better on Saturday, and usually FINALLY almost ready on Sunday.

If you do a GOOD leg day, you only do 1 a week out of necessity.
Really? On top of regular Marine Corps PT, I usually do 1-2 leg movements 4-5 times per week. I think it’s working pretty well…FWIW this pic was taken today.

I wouldn’t call 1-2 leg movements a “leg day”. My leg days consist of 9-10 leg movements, and I’m in the gym for 3 hours. I’d like to meet anybody who could do that more than once a week.

While this may work for you, someone who is just starting to train legs certainly doesn’t need that kind of volume.

You have be to an absolute animal to train legs for 3 hours straight with high intensity, mentally and genetically.

I guess I could squat and leg press for 45 minutes each if I took the powerlifting approach and rested 3 4 5 minutes between sets. Through in extensions, curls, calves, abduction, adduction, lunges and maybe some lower back and I could see these 3 hours sessions. I don’t think I could go hard enough to make it worth it though even if I was getting plenty of carbs and bcaa throughout. I split it into quad and ham dominate days though.

You know what, since I never go off topic, here it goes (I’m coming out):

I’m a chubby chaser too!

If there are any big ladies out there, feel free to chat. Don’t be intimidated by my being bodybuilder who like’s to look after himself, I like the woman big.

I’m a sensitive but strong person, I’ll listen to you all night and I won’t be an ass like most out there…

Heres another way of adding frequency to your leg training without necasserily adding in another squatting session:

Car pushes/sprints.

Push your car as fast as you can for about 50-100 yards (whatever is in your capability), then past it back.

It sets your quads/calves on fire.

I’ve built up to 10 sprints so far, trying to do this 3-4x a week.

It’s a good way to replace boring ass cardio too.

As far as i know your leg day should be intense*
Definitly no more than once a week,I like to get them over with on Mondays

This is honestly the only type of exercise (besides some preseason football practices in high school) that has ever brought me to the verge of puking. Also, I’ve never felt my entire lower body burn so much… And you do this 3-4 times a week! The balls on some people here…
After I did car pushing sprints for a couple weeks my recovery time between sets on my leg days improved dramatically as well. I may start doing this again…

I haven’t been doing it very long so I hope i experience the same recovery improvements you did, but I feel that doing this + a hard leg session each week is going to give me some big ass legs in short order.

Will help me lose fat too =)

Personally, when I train quad-dominant exercises, it doesn’t leave my hamstrings particularly sore. I generally have one quad-dominant lift day (read: not quad isolation), and one ham-dominant lift day. They focus on squats, deadlifts, lunges, and good mornings … with some accessory work. Sessions go about one hour with some calves at the end. Recovering from a brutal leg day can take some time, but I think when you are about 75% healed up from one day, you can execute the other muscle group’s exercises. From 22" to 26+" on the quads, 36" to 40+" on the butt, 160 lbs to 197 lbs on the scale. I think it has worked satisfactorily so far.

I’ve been steadily becoming more and more of a fan of training legs like this. Just wanted to say that.
