Going Down Fighting!

Awesome write up and pics mate. How did the jeep cope with those roads. I assume you have upgraded the suspension.

The Jeep was fine, didn’t have any dramas, we were in a convoy of 9 rigs, I only had to attempt 1 sandhill again, mainly due to me choosing the wrong gear, however I was always 8th and she was chopped to bits.
Suspension is stock, it’s got air suspension, did pretty much the whole trip in standard height or Offroad 1. I was weary about the tyres, being 20" rims, can’t go much smaller due to the big brakes. All other 4x4’s I’ve had, I’ve always done the big sidewall thing, however the tyre bloke recommended Westlake Tyres and they were bloody fantastic.
This thing is a dream to drive, comfy, has all the gadgets you can want, bloody gutsy and great on juice. With the drawers in the back it was easy.

To say I’m jealous is an understatement lol sounds like a great trip.
Sounds like you’ve got the Jeep pretty well kitted out too

Alright, gonna start logging some sessions here again. I’ve changed what I have always done, drastically. I’ve always had the urge to lift heavy and tried approaches where I don;t need to but always end up pushing the weight up, however I have made a change to something very different to what I’ve always done. So after much reading I decided a DC style template sounded good and so far (6 weeks in) I have been loving it. Much lighter weights than ever, however I’ve been sore in all sorts of places. I like the rest pause sets and usually only give a 10 second pause between the sets.

Yesterday’s session - light on the DB press and skipped Close Grip Bench for Tri pushdown. Being the end of the school year I’ve done a heap of games and sport with my class, joined with the class next door and have pulled something in my shoulder (getting old) and tweaked my hammy the other day leaping around in a volleyball tournament with the kids(what was I thinking)

DB Press
5kg x 8
10kg x8
15kg x8 x8

Seated DB Press
5kg x8

25kg x10-7-5 RP

Lat Pulldown

45kg x 12-8-6 RP

Seated Cable Row

45kg x 10-7-5 RP

Some abs to finish off and heaps of band pullaparts throughout

Good on you for logging some sessions and trying something new. I am sure there are a few guys around here that have tried that style of training too. Once you’ve logged a bit throw some questions around, and see what come up.

Hopefully you’ve been doing them in the power rack :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So, these sessions are interesting, certainly not heavy, but fuck do I feel them after. I make sure that every rep of every set is slow and controlled. The lying leg curls I do on my flat bench with a DB held in my feet, for the RP set I hold it at the top for the rest period, 15kg sounds gay, but shit I’m sore after em.

DB Curls
5kg x8
10kg x8
15kg x 12-7-5 RP

Reverse Grip BB Curl (fat grips)
20kg x 12-8-6 RP

Safety Squat Calf Raise
20kg x15
40kg x15
60kg x15
80kg x15
100kg x15

Lying Ham Curls (DB)
5kg x8
10kg x8
15kg x14-8-4

Safety Squat Bar Squats
20kg x5
60kg x5
80kg x5
100kg x5
120kg x5
80kg x20

That’s it, but very slow.

Got a weightlifting platform actually for power cheat curls.

Few mates and me have combined all our gear and get 5-8 people together twice a week to lift. Good times.

Well, session today was next to useless, trying to baby my shoulder through things and not do stuff that will make it hurt, grr. SO basically some band crossovers and some BB Rows, that’s about it, I’ll squat and deadlift next session. Shoulder is feeling better, I’ve never hurt it before, so hopefully it’s just a strained muscle.

Still kicking along with walking, have been getting up at 5am to walk 3km each morning before work, and it beats the heat, although just over a week back it was 32*C at 5:30am still.

Still nursing the shoulder, just trying not to aggravate the sucker, it does seem to be on the mend which is good, however, no benching or pressing, hmm.
So today, no bench, no OH Press.

Walked 3km early this morning, bloody warm still at 5:30am

Band fly
x10 x10 x10 x10

Cable Tri Pushdown
5kg x8
10kg x8
15kg x8
20kg x8
25kg x12- 7- 4 RP

Close Grip Lat Pulldowns

45kg x8
55kg x 8- 6- 4 RP

Deadlifts
70kg x5
110kg x3
150kg x3
190kg x3

For the past couple of months my diet has been pretty good (not that it’s ever been terrible), oats with yoghurt milk and whey in the morning, another serve for Smoko, mid morning some stage. Lunch is always a piece of Salmon and rice or veg, usually veg, a quick shake in the arvo before lifting and whatever for dinner, usually meat and veg. Interesting that my weight was 102kg when I got back from the Simmo 9 weeks ago, it’s now 105kg, hmm, however Mrs and my son have commented I’m not as porky, haha. Quick snap from deads today.

Shoulders still feeling a little iffy, so have done zero lifting last few days, I’m guessing a muscle strain as it was gradually feeling better, then I grabbed my swag from the top hook in the garage and pinched it again, grr.
Did a few easy sets of tri pushdowns, curls laying on floor and bunch of other stuff today. Will squat with the Safety Bar tomorrow, put the sucker to good use.

Agree with @simo74 there definitely looking Hench there mate lol

Bit of a mongrel session, I am guessing that’s what they’ll have to be for a while, shoulder feels alright, weird, it feels better after lifting, although I don’t do anything to stress it at all.

Yesterday, did a ton of shoulder stuff with bands, it felt a ton better afterwards.
Also a heap of back stuff, lat pulldowns, and seated row, very slow negatives up to 55kg each x 10 reps per set.
Got some new shoes which is awesome, my Under Armor’s had started hurting my feet, when I looked back at the data on my Garmin app I’d clocked just under 300km in them since May, that’s not including the rest of each day.

Christmas Eve session. Just a random session until this shoulder is fully healed and I can smash it again.

Started with heaps of shoulder stuff with the bands, internal and external rotations, straight arm pulldowns, dislocates etc, feels good.

Squats - safety bar
20kg x5
60kg x5
100kg x3
140kg x2
180kg x2
140kg x2
feels good with 180kg on this bar, def harder than standard BB

Bulgarian Split Squat
40kg x5 x 5 x5

and a few other random things and abs.
