When i first started this weightlifting stuff…it took awhile for me to get everything down pat. And i still dont know alot of stuff…but its been more than half a year do this and i know alot more now. I’m 18…and I work out with a friend. We have been friends since like 2nd grade…I got him into this bodybuilding stuff…and this is his life now. Its a big part of my life too…and its starting to consume my life. I feel like im almost missing out on alot of stuff. I dont eat any foods i really crazy like mcdonalds or wendys or taco bell ever.
I wont eat a piece of pizza. If my parents make something for dinner…i wont eat it sometimes because i think its bad for me. My friend jeremy is even worse. Now occassionally i will have weak moments and eat something not so good…but it happens less and less. Its starting to become tiring…and I cant see myself eating like this for the rest of my life.
At my age should i take advantage of it and eat shitty food like once or twice a week? Its kinda going to extremes…and Im already tired of eating the same shit over and over…broiled chicken…steak…wheat bread…green beans…turkey wraps. I love the weightlifting…but the diet part…its really fucked after a while.
Why are you doing this? Relax. Worrying about things to this level probably does more harm than the strictness that you achieve.
I can’t imagine not eating a slice of pizza or avoiding a meal because it isn’t exactly what you wanted to eat.
Unless you are specifically getting ready for a contest, you can always diet off any weight you put on. In fact, carrying a little more weight will even make your body more prone to build muscle.
Just… relax. Live life. Don’t go all or nothing and obsess on this stuff, that’s crazy.
I was like that at your age. Eating “perfect” for months at a time. As I became older I realized it didn’t really make any different in my physique. I regularily eat ice cream, pizza, chocolate, and drink now and it hasn’t seemed to make a difference at all in my leaness. I still manage to get my 300 grams of protein in, but I try not to worry too much about the other stuff. If anything it’ll help you gain some muscle easier due to consuming more calories. And guess what, I’m 20 pounds more muscular than I was then, and 100% happier.
Unless you’re gearing to become a professional bodybuilder and are aiming for a contest in the near future I see no reason to treat your diet so seriously. And my Dr. Phil comment for the day… “Do you live to workout, or workout to live?” Think about it. lol
Good if you are attempting to eat healthier. When you choose to eat food you think is not healthy do not feel guilty. My last statement needs emphasis. Reading about binge and purging may give you some knowledge also.
Thanks guys…seriously…my dads been telling me the same shit. Its just not pleasant eating like that ALL the time. He tries to pressure me into eating a burger every once in a while “its good for you every once in a while”…i guess hes right as ussual.
The key is to not go out of your way to eat crappy food. You’ll just feel guilty. But if your parents are making dinner, go ahead and eat it. If you’re out with your friends and you stop at McD’s, hell eat. You could probably only eat clean for 70% of your meals and be just fine.

Pay alot of attention to food QUALITY, but don’t necessarily deny yourself. If you want to have a burger that’s cool, but make it yourself with good ingredients, don’t get the trashy McDonalds one. Want meatloaf, fine, but use oats instead of crackers. Try lots of different foods, a meal should look like a meal, not a list of ingredients like some people’s diets.

I agree 100%. At our age, choosing the healthier choice is enough. If your not trying to be a pro BB (and your probably not) don’t sweat so much over it. Just don’t shove all the uber transfatty foods down your gullet and you’ll be good to go!
well I never really had that problem, if it bothers you then you can cheat 10% of what you eat(a lot if were speaking of one cheat meal a week while cutting on sub 3k)
or even 20 to 30% when bulking(some would go even more v\because they need calories or w\e)
but everyone cheats once in a while, taboos could be tepting especially fast food we havent had in ages(sometimes I eat a box of pop tarts which can be quite big like maybe 500g here in israel) I get sick from eating it but i enjoy the while and later I’m ready to lift harder without getting to suffer anything,
Have you seen marius pudzianowski (worlds strongest man)? He says " never diet, only train more" He’s ripped but sometimes eats up to 10 mars bars a day. Eat it will make you strong.
