Going At It Hard

Hey everyone, just a question, about attitude, and failure (not that sort). I’m motivated, proud and i work hard to gain. This means in my natural mindset, say i was at 5 reps and i felt failure, i might cheat one, then contract the muscle fucking hard isometrically, just to really kill it. This seems natural to me.

But there’s a body of evidence and opinion that training to absolute fatigue deosn’t get as many fast twitches, right?

So my question is- how can you a) train hard, b) not go to failure and c) make gains, simultaneously?

Sorry if it seems a stupid question, its just a paradox for me. Thanks

I think you can forget the details and ask yourself

“Am I stronger than last week?”.

“Is there more weight on the bar than last week?”

“Am I bigger/heavier than last month?”

“Can I do more reps with this weight than last week?”

If you find yourself saying “No!” to these questions then you need to rethink your time in the gym.

For me, I am one of those that actually get great results from H.I.T. Others HATE it. I am a “to failure” type of guy and do well with low volume and 2x - 3x per week training.

Experiment and see what works best.

And by “works best”, you must be answering “Yes!” to the above questions.
