Goin' Kickin' and Screamin'

Thank you Schmidt. We learn from each other in here. That’s the great thing about our little area here.
Ah yes, the ever handsome (inside joke) Mr John. Hadn’t seen those before, user.
Carl, I ain’t never thrown offa no concrete. Never seen it done off concrete (til now). Always on grass. Wear my javelin shoes with short spikes. Lots of guys wear soccer/football cleats. The official rules of the games require a “Trig” (straight toe board) to be 9’ from the back line. Throwing area has to be 4’6" across. He ain’t usin no trig. The braemar stone he’s throwing is huge. Must be a 26# at least. Here’s a link to the rules.

Busy after work changing the alternator on my truck. Got that done and hit the water. Did a good paced 1500m. Off tomorrow so depending on the weather gonna try and throw then lift.

Thanks for the rules link. That clears things up.

That is a warm up :>
Beware the baseball bat sling type throw when doing the hammer. Its low and off the side like you do a bat after hitting the ball. Try and release it over the shoulder.

That’s a lot of throws for 1 session, especially after weightlifting. Sounds like my shot training. What form particular are you working on right now?

Harry your training is always an inspiration.

Damn fine Bench.

Awesome as ever over here my friend! How’s that heat treatin’ you down in 'Bammy?

Thanks all. Trying to finish up the T&F season with my best performances of the year. Damn heat is really bad this year, Steely. Maybe Gore ain’t so dumb after all.
Carl, best shown here in the picture. Think it’s Kanter. My transititon phase sucks. Studying my vids when I get to this position the disc is still low at my hip with no torque.

My throws yesterday all working on the spin, keeping the disc high, and the pull through to release. Wasn’t even throwing hard, but got a couple out near my best.

Good looking bench!

Harry, I hope you and the vets have a good 4th.

also, i only made a 56lb weight. I just now noticed that you are supposed to throw both 28 and 56. is this correct? do you practice with both, or just the heavier one?

Just came to think of somthing when you posted that picture of Kanter.

http://globalthrowing.com/265

that’s a link to Kanters Ahtlete bio, at the bottom of the page you will find several lifting videos.

MJ. You throw the 56# for distance and height and the 28# just for distance in competition. Definitely practice with both. Good thing is you always throw the 28 for distance after the 56 in comp so the 28 feels like nothing.
Thanks for the link Schmidt, hated to see Virgiligus be dethroned but he’d been at the top so long.

I need more leg. I mean more leg work. My back squats appear to hit the hips mostly. I can’t front squat at all so of course I’ve convinced myself of my dire need for them. Began my assault on FS with a very narrow stance. About 4 inches down, stopped. Slightly wider stance, little lower, etc. Finally got to where I could at least get down to slightly past 90 degrees. Used the crossed arms, can’t get the bar all the way on delts so ended up with it about at the delt/bicep point. Had to keep elbows real high and bar was right in the adam’s apple.

Number 234 is here. Fourth of July weekend and I’ve got 3 straight days off. Started the day by running up the flag and getting ready to head off to the gym with the wife. Full schedule of gluttony, over indulgence, alcohol consumption, and pyrotechnics planned. Yes folks, there’s just nothing that says fun like a bunch of liquored up good ole boys running around with class b and c explosives. Hope every one has a great weekend.

tru dat. i miss the old 21 gun salute of the mining town I grew up in. The mine would “lose” 2 cases of dynamite for the 4th of july. The head blaster and his sons and me and my dad would go up into the mountains, and make 20 bundles of 7 sticks of dynamite, then put them in 3 circles of 7 bundles. you need to have good distance between each bundle to avoid sympathetic explosion. the #21 bundle is the half-box of remaining dynamite. we would set this off at 6 am.

learning to handle dynamite just before i turned 12 almost made moving to utah from calli worthwhile…

and yes, beer was always involved, even at 5am.

sumtimes me miss cuntry livin

Front squats suck, they are uncomfortable, and they make you look like a freak while you are doing them, but I think they pay big dividends. They really hit your quads, get your hips to open up, and help with depth on back squats. I don’t think you will regret fighting through the initial awkwardness.

MJ, one of my (several) brothers learned to blow shit up real good in the military, got out and went to work in Nevada around Elko, all over Utah, mainly Juab County(?). He’s got a demolition company now that contracts to the quarries all over the south. Blows up old peers with cotton mouth nests under them, too. He puts on really good shows.

Jack, definitely gonna stick with the front squats. Like the feeling of them.

Skip the spa but I hear pilates classes have smith machines.

Big breaksfast indeed.

I think every gym needs a silver hair pulling 500+ and cleaning 300+
might keep the places civilized.

Do they wear a tutu in pilate classes, Joe? Just asking, in case, you know, the kilts getting a little old.
What’s up, Kev? We’re real civil down here. Something about everyone riding around with shotguns in the rear window of their truck just makes people more sociable like. Thanks for stopping by.

Long hot summer day. Cicada were singing loud. Understand the whole eastern seaboard’s in for some hot weather. Did an 11 hour day and got home draggin ass. Headed straight to the river. Lay in the shallows for awhile with the dogs and finally got up the energy to swim. Did a fairly fast 1000m and felt human again. Day off tomorrow so into the gym early.

You clean 305 so I don’t dare make fun of you using the smith machine. 11 hour day is way to long.Hope the paycheck is large. As always, great training.
