Deads and squats in the same workout? Heretic.
yeah. careful or you’ll get all overtrained. strain yer adrenal fatigue or some shit.
How’d your young padawan do in the Jr Olys?
Which does the wife prefer? You sleeping with the discus, or the shot put? ![]()
Great stuff here, as usual.
Colin,Joe,User, Wilson; Always like to do the sqauts after deads. Deads make my lower back tight and the sqauts loosin it right back up again.
Carl, Noticed the same thing. Feels like I’m getting a better pull. Haven’t had time to really get use to it, yet, so I don’t think I’m putting enough spin on it. I’m sure once I do my throws’ll jump up about 30’. (That’s a joke all)
Numero Uno on the at first meet MJ.
Punnyone, it’s my javelin she really loves. (ain’t sophomoric humor great?)
Back to the forced overtime so by the time I’m getting home at night it’s to bed. Heat index has been 108 the past 2 days and expected to stay that way. Gonna be hotter this Sat for the Alabama Sports Festival.
Monday night
Hang cleans

185x5
225x4
btn press (standing)
135x8x2 (very wide grip)
185x8x2 (narrower grip)
bent lat raises
30x10x4
hammer curls
45x10x4
All I had time for
Last night
Got home in time to get a few throws in. Hit the river around 2100 and did 1500m. Felt great after. Like to get one more lifting session in tonight and that’ll be it til after the meet. Todays forcast, hotter with probable TStorms.
Walking 6+ miles with a mail bag in 108 degree heat can’t be easy. You must lose a couple pounds of fluid a day. Its going to be 90 up here on saturday. Hot for this time of year. Have another great meet. I’m sure you’ll be taking first place again.
Nice training Harry. Good luck on the games too. It’s hot and humid here too, but I’m not going to complain. I’ll take heat to cold ANYDAY!
Steve, in the words of that great H2O expert, Bobby Boucher, “hydration, all about the good water for proper hydration”. Walk, deliver, drink, find somewheres to piss, repeat.
Wilson, this is probably the least prepared I’ve felt for a meet. Long days are starting to take a toll. After Saturday don’t have another one til mid July.
Last night, wanted to get in a couple of throws but got home to a downpour. Hit the gym for a light workout.
Bench
135,185,wu
225x10
315x8
db incline
50x10x3
standing cable flyes
50x12x3
Overhead tri ext (rope)
90x bunches
elbow leans and jaw jacks while at the front counter talking to the owner
glut flatteners lounging on the bench providing insightful commentary to other appreciative lifters
Excellent Water Boy reference. Don’t know why but I love that movie. 315x8 is a light workout?

Don’t feel bad, I was just singing it!!!
Harry - I turn 51 next month and I’ve got a long way to go to catch your light workout load.
Thanks for giving me hope.
Summing up the whole day, even my damn camera went on the fritz
Shot, had to revert to the side scoot
Congratulations! Good grief…I think you have forgotten how to do anything other than win! That is the problem to have…
