Goin' Kickin' and Screamin'

“damn paparazzi”

“hips don’t lie. It’s all in the hips”.

You ought to see about coaching part time. could be a couple extra bucks, and a way to give back to a sport you obviously love.

Coach Hel. I like it.

Harry, The A&M kids would learn a whole damn lot from you. Looks like you had great fun.

Nice to be able to give back to the sport by coaching a bit. Cool vid and pics, big man. Disc looked like a pebble out of a slingshot. And you made it look easy.

No money Mj, just some good kids to help. Had a great time Wilson. The far throws always look easy, Tony. In the throwing world everyones always to after the “effortless throw”. Basically means if all your parts are moving right and the implements going fast enough it’ll go real far and you won’t even feel it. And I’m dropping the hell out of my left arm, like always.

but you still look like a cia spook on a jaunt.

nice work at the meets, and in the gym jump squats are awesome.

Hel, you do an awful lot of volume. do you think that walking 12 miles every day helps with that? Or is it just consistent training over the years? I see your workouts and think (1) It would take me 2 hours to do that, and (b) and I would need a defibrillator twice. Great work!

Can’t let our resident thrower languish to page 2. Hope spring is getting underway down in Alabama

Just catching up Harry, that meet looked like a ton-o-fun. I think coaching would be very rewarding, you ought to give it a go if you have the time.

Mj, it’s only a quick little 6 miles a day (476 sets of steps, but who’s counting?) I don’t feel like I’m doing that much volume. Most of my weight training over the years was sporatic and in between deployments but the morning runs(5k), swims(1500m) and pushups on blocks, rope climbs, pullups, situps, etc., were a constant when not hurt. My workouts usually take about an hour. I take very little pause between sets.
Thanks for the save Wilson. Time is getting to be a problem, Jack. Think I should specialize in one thing but there’s no fun in that.
3/11 - Swim
3/12 - chest/tri
3/13 - shoulder/bi
This morning, had to be at the Vets home real early. They just love my cookin there,(Damn, chief, how the f…k can you screw up sos?) Having the kitchen remodeled so had to meet with the contractors (a nephew and a great nephew, so they helped themselves to lunch while measuring). Finally, about an hour ago, got to throw. Glad daylight savings times here. Running into some scheduling problems between the T&F meets and highland games. Not complaining, better too many than too few.

Good to see you still going at it. You are right about the left arm. Keeping it up will not only improve your balance, but it also gives you good feedback about over-rotating out of the back. Those throws looked smooth and effortless.

Great pics and video. I agree the throw looked smooth (coming from a non-thrower). I think Coach Hell would get some attention.

Enjoyed going through the last 2 pages of posts…especially a sucker for vids and pics! Gonna be AWOL for awhile and just wanted to wish you the best in all your future endeavors…catch ya when I can!

Looking good…

Thanks Steve, maybe I can get me one of those reality shows, “Thrower’s Bootcamp, only for those with iron balls”.
Hope everythings going good Art. Tried not to stay gone to long.
Thanks Null.
Darby? Carl Darby…rings a bell. Yeah, now I remember. Marathon runner lookin dude dabbles in the throws and oly liftin a bit. I had to thrower the 16# and 2k in that meet. 16# wasn’t bad but the 2k feels like a serving platter after the 1.5k. So, where you been man? You back to throwing? Couple of things just stream of conscience. Senior olympics, Houston, Tx, 2011. Qualify in your state this year. Case you haven’t been keepin up, Jim Wetenhall just throught the 56# weight 10.55m to break Tom Gages 55-59 record. Keep in touch.

Sorry you missed the rasslers. At least 10 years their senior but I’m sure they have had more injuries. I listen to my tunes very load so I wasn’t following the chat. The faces said it all, sometimes I feel folks wishing me to get hurt. I always help the children and play hell with the bastards with no ettiquet or the muscle head jerks.

Your Highland games and T&F work is damn inspirational hel.

show the kiddies how its done…

Makes me dizzy thinking about those heavy throws. May the wind be at your back.
