Goin' Kickin' and Screamin'

You made 315 your bitch. Nice work.

Hel… sittin’ down and havin’ a drink with you is now part of my “bucket list” of things to do. You are one funny/ deep individual.

Nice hoistin’ by the way…

Youdaman Harry. I totally want to be you if I grow up.

The idea of 405 SLD’s makes me nauseous.

Math, half the time they did those on SNL I wasn’t sure if they didn’t make sense or I was drunk.
Thanks Jack, I’m actually thinking of dropping them for a while. Raging debates in the throwing world about the benefits of the bench. Most say it’s over rated for increasing the throws. Most do agree though taht the Incline bench help’s the shot put and a sort of elbows out/wide grip, bodybuilder type bench is of help to the discus.
Thanks bunny, my bucket list is real short cause most of it would get me killed by the wife and I wouldn’t go no further. And I swear that damn rabbit or the guy in the suit in you avatar is in a state of arousal. (That’s a hard on to yawl).
You done growed up, MJ. You jess went to fast bout it. Now you backin up a little and doin it right.
Joe, I don’t get near deep enough on my regular deads so my lower back’s kinda use to the strain.
Ok, really, really cool thing. I joined facebook a while back so I could read something on a nieces site she wanted me to see. Haven’t used it since. The other night I got a messege from John Powell on there. If you don’t know who John Powell is you’re a heathen. Carl Darby and I were talking about him a while back. He and Al Oerter were at the US Sports Festival, USAF Academy, Colorado Springs, 1979. My team and I jumped onto the field at the opening ceremony. His picture from then below. Kevin, if you read this and ever get to see the whole Ricky Bruch film, John’s in it training with Ricky.
Ok, I’m ramblin now.
This morning, college field. Practicing with the 2k. Finally got the damn thing flying right well so I can work on puttin some power into it. Did a good hour of throwing nothing but the disc.

John Powell, 1979

Friday, storms moving in form the west hit here. Ice, rain, wind. Didn’t get too wet cause the rain froze on the way down my back. Steps were all slippery as hell. High porches took some navigated. Made it with no nose dives. Saturday, sleet, ice, and cold winds. Damn rails up the steps were covered in ice.

Got my invite to my first Highland Game, Strongest Man of the Loch, 20 Feb. Right around the corner and probably gonna be cold. Bunch of us are having a practice next Saturday. Changing my workout routine.

Sun is out, gonna hit 40 today. Making luch, nap, ganna throw this afternoon. Mud, oh yeah. First comps in sight, I’m stoked now. Time to get in high gear.

Good work, Harry, I bet you are itching to get back into thick of things. Jump squats after heavies sounds brutal.

Nice work Harry. I like the new training. Are you doing Grandfather Mountian this year?

Wow, nice sessions HEL! Did you eat all 5# of wings? Great, now I want wings… Dammit, that’s all I’m going to think about all night now…

Nice work, Harry. Hope you got some throwing in today.

OK, seriously-- just after I posted this shortly after 5:15 or so, I says to the wife "I’m in the mood for wings. She says “go to Pizza Hut, pick me up some pasghetti, blah, blah, blah”. Now, at 6:30, there are 20 fewer wings in the world…

Just.Perfect— THANKS, man!

High pulls with 345. I hate you in a jealous as hell sort of way. Always impressive.

Wilson, I’d love to but I’ll have to see how the vacation book looks. That’s a little far to do on a weekend. Also got to get invited.
Steely, I didn’t get to eat the whole 5#. Wife ate her normal 5 or 6 pieces so I probably only got about 4 1/2#. She’s a glutton. Which brings up one of life’s great mysteries. How can women eat wings, ribs, whatever, and not get any on them? I basically wear my food. It’s an evolution thing.
Steve, I need to check my form on those high pulls. Not sure how I did it but I got a pain in the outside of my left wrist while doing them. Nothing serious, more of a nuisance than anything else. Think I was bending at the wrist to much. Gonna keep the weight lower on those and go for pure speed.
Got to throw last night and tonight, Math. Covered in mud. Wife made me strip down in the garage before I was allowed in the house. Kinky, eh?

Yesterday
28# for distance x 10
56# for distance x 10
56# for heigth x 10

After work today

16# stone x 10
22# stone x 5
16# shot put x 10
2K discus x 12

Iced shoulder. Hot bath, heat on the shoulder tonight.

Lift tomorrow night.

That looks like some fierce throwing volume, hel. Always impressed.

That’s it, Harry! Cover the wing juice with mud! It’s downright Darwinian!

Have you always been into the track and field stuff? Or is something you got into as an adult?

In today’s article, Tate and Wendler say that if you take a slug in the arse fighting for your country, it makes you hardcore. Does that make you “adamantium-core”? With all that facial hair, you do kinda look like a wolverine…

Whenever I see a “my dad just turned 50 and is looking for a program, what should he do” thread, I am always tempted to link this thread and say “have him do that” and then commense with the girlish snickering and giggling.

Hi Harry,

Just dropping by to say “Hi” and check up on all your workouts, lifting, and/or throwing since my last check-in. Your sense of humor hasn’t diminished in any way, shape or form, but your lifting looks better, in fact the 1/31 workout looked like more of a “lifting marathon” than anything else. Good to see competitions are around the corner…keep you focused and gives you renewed outlook on things! Enjoyed the pic of Powell; seen him throw a couple of meets when I was at the U of O in the 80’s. Hope all is well with you & yours(it sure seems that way) but thought I would say anyway. Take care for now!
