PG, its not really pain but a combo of tightness and muscles firing/not firing that seems to affect me. Its been a vicious circle of some muscles overcompensating and getting really tight and others then shut down. Its been kind of like chasing my tail so to speak.
For the bench I almost submitted 336/341 for a third but I needed 331 for the record. I played it safe, never know when there is going to be a lift off gone wrong or a head judge napping during the commands lol.
Great job G, super impressive!
Nice form as always, as PG said it looked like you could have gone higher on the bench but squat and dead attempts looked spot on.

Well im going to try to male it to natioanls in Denver next month. Probably wont be able to get there until sat so might be a 93ker. Its a quick turn around for meets so may not make it at all. Ill keep you posted.
G1, your comment on kettlebells being therapeutic for your joints has been on my mind.
That plus Mr. Shoulders Eric Cressey always talking about kettlebell pressing movements finally got me to step out of my rut of dumbbell pressing.
Damn, instantaneous rear delt recruitment in the upper third of the press. The beneficial effects were immediate and noticeable. It’s weird, but my personal progression seems to be regular dumbbell pressing “suspect” for shoulders, fat gripz dumbbell pressing mildly beneficial if my form is “perfect” plus I make sure to reach towards the ceiling at the top, now with the same “perfect form” using a kettlebell and eureka! -I’m just waiting now to see if it cures old age…
I knew I followed your log for a reason besides the hot bod videos…Thanks! (Seriously!)
Lol, old bod videos. I know exactly what you mean, I find similar things or that ah it feels good to move with the squats as well as swings, high pulls etc.
Sorry Snap, won’t be making the trip. I think we are up there next spring though. Please no hikes on the way to brunch this time lol.
PG, I’m going to take 4 weeks (10 day microcycle, so will take 6 weeks I think) off traditional lifts and do mostly kb’s and some other stuff. Last time I did this I felt great and training went well went I got back to the comp lifts or close variations. Here is the template incase your interested.
Day 1
power clean/front squat short ladder 5/4/3/2/1/1/2/3/4/5 (5 cleans into 5 fr sq, rest between rungs as needed)
double kb clean/double kb squat ladder 10/8/6/4/2/2/4/6/8/10
kb swing/goblet squat same as above
Day 2
dip/chin same as ladder above
SA kb press ladder, just alt arm 10r, 10l, 8r, 8l, etc
SA kb snatch ladder same as above
Day 3
Double kb clean/double kb squat ladder
Kb swing/goblet squat ladder
Pistol squat ladder
Day 4
work up to 5x5 SA kb snatch (heavy)
work up to 5x5 SA kb press (heavy)
SA kb press ladder
SA kb row ladder
Have fun lol.

Too late. You’re rostered.
Lol. Well as you can imagine sitting this one out is frustrating and emotionally tough pill to swallow. But I know its smart and best thing right now. Ill be back ![]()
Great looking program G1, thanks for writing all that out. Some nice concepts built in there.
Of course, given our respective gap in strength/fitness, I am looking at it through my “a man’s gotta know his limitations” filter…LOL.
Oh PG, dont sell yourself short ![]()
Thanks DB. (I figured I better stop hijacking snaps log lol). I’ll be working on those squats again hopefully, just much lighter lol. I’ll probably log some updates as things progress and the process in general. Looks like I’ll be a bencher only for a while.

You will. No doubt.
My coach had a total hip replacement last July. He’s competing in a meet this weekend. Will squat in the 300s. And he turns 76 this year.
That’s awesome.
Well my first goal is to not walk with a limp anymore (aka a stick up my arse), then be normally active and train all the lifts, if that all goes well then venture into heavier strength training again. But I have a lot of research to do on how training affects the life of the new joint. Not sure if loading it under heavier wts wears it quicker or if it will wear at a certain rate regardless if that makes sence?
I know several people, including my mom, who have had hip replacements and all have been happy with the results. Good luck and I hope you are back as strong as ever soon.
Good luck tomorrow G1!
Hey pg thanks. Sorry I should have updated but it got moved to 15th. 2 more weeks, actually ready to do it and move on!
