I asked a similar question a few months ago about Biotest’s protein, and was told it is soy LECITHIN which does not have the negative effects of soy PROTEIN.
On another note, don’t use GNC protein if you value you anal region. It will tear it up.
ALLERGEN WARNING: Contains milk, soy, tree nuts (hazelnut) and wheat ingredients. Produced in a facility that also processes egg, peanut, fish, and shellfish products.

I’m still not understanding. Why is the soy in Grow! Whey Protein acceptable?

Because it’s not soy protein. It’s lecithin derived from soy, which is completely different and doesn’t contain the soy isoflavones that have been linked to the negative effects often discussed around here.
Soy lecithin improves mixability if I’m not mistaken, its not actually the soy protein…and there’s soy in a lot of stuff such as tuna…its a negligible amount…just dont get those SOY protein powders.
